I AM HOOKED. Love this place it's my new favourite Sushi place and I can't get enough. :( :p

They have some amazing sushi and their salmon sashimi just melts in your mouth! It could get a bit expensive sometimes if your really hungry but it's worth it.

Topgun near the new west casino boat

ah-yin 06-15-2005 08:37 PM

Did anyone mention Sushi Town yet?
It's on hastings....

That place is kind of new, and it's just like Sushi Garden and Sushi House, but with less people (so never have to wait for a table).
I think it's pretty good.

Tomokazu above Sony store on Broadway, 9.95 AYCE lunch, pretty damn good

aznrsx1979 06-17-2005 06:59 PM

yah i'd say Topgun is pretty good
Robson Sushi is ok to, it's not too bad since it's so close and i don't need to find parking.
There's a place that's good on Davie St but i don't remember the name now :(

If you're near Metrotown, Sushi Garden is really good. It's a small place right across Metropolis. It's usually really busy.

I tried a great sushi place called Toshis on 16th and Main. Apparently the chef used to work at Tojos. ITs cheapish and the pieces ain't huge but its fresh and clean.

wooooord

Daydreamer 08-30-2005 07:59 PM

I love Toshi Sushi. :)

Delish 08-30-2005 11:23 PM

Minato Sushi on Oak and West Broadway. It's in a little plaza, where the 7-11 is... I've never had a bad experience going there. They use REAL CRAB in their rolls. Everybody should try their Vancouver Special Roll... one full order (8 pieces) is $12.95! But you can also get a half order (4 rolls) They're huge though... salmon, tuna, cucumber, avacado, ebi and REAL CRABBB. I've had good service everytime I've gone there. The only downside is that they're closed for a part of the day, but reopen for dinner (I think 5pm) .. Anyways you should check it out

^^^ You've got to be kidding. I have worked with one of the sushi 'chefs' there. I will never go eat where he works.

Delish 08-31-2005 10:19 AM

Would you care to explain why?

Let's just say he wasn't very hygenic. That's why he didn't last too long. I don't know....maybe he's changed now.

i like kiyo in richmond, i usually go there about once every 2 weeks for lunch. the box lunches are great food for the price. it's a bit pricy for those people who like samurai for the cheap/big stuff

i'm no sushi conesuer [sp] but i wouldnt say Top gun is very good at all.

Volkl 09-01-2005 01:57 PM

Topgun used to be quite good but the last time I went, it was horrible. None of the servers who give excellent service were there and the food was below average. The rolls were mostly rice with very little filling. Sashimi orders were forgotten or was always the last thing to arrive at the table.

gars 09-01-2005 10:09 PM

i went to topgun on monday...

i usually go there now with my friends.... we just order tons of sashimi, and it's usually good. i've never really had problems with service, and they don't forget our sashimi orders (cuz we order ALOT)...

hmm i think i've been there before..is that the place that has like 60+ items u can order on the dinner menu?

MegaHurtz 09-04-2005 09:51 PM

Call it lack of experience but I always thought Sui Sha Ya was pretty good. Being that I live in Surrey, the restaraunts in Richmond/Van are really too far for me to go eat there, but I've been to the Sui Sha Ya in Richmond a bunch of times as well as the one in Coquitlam and I thought it was always good, especially in Richmond. Coquitlam location wasn't as good recently but I went there today for AYCE and it was kickass. The other places that I've been to are Sanjin in Surrey (sucks, don't go there, somebody told me they saw a rat there), and a couple places out in Abby (one is REALLY good, but I can't remmeber the name). Typically I stick to the more conservative types of sushi (salmon, tuna, various rolls), but Sui Sha Ya has never really let me down.

keitaro 09-09-2005 11:01 PM

oh god this is making me hungry.......:(

stlai 09-10-2005 12:46 AM

Sui sha Ya is HORRIBLE!! The whole chain sucks! NEVER GO THERE!

miss_crayon 09-22-2005 10:21 PM

for a good deal try
sushi garden on kingsway across the street from station square/next to metropointe
sushi town on hastings next to the subway

the prices, portions and menu are the same.

asahi ya on robson is pretty good
and isami sushi below metropointe offices

i know this thread is for the best sushi in town..but guu has pretty good japanese food. they are more of a fusion type restaurant but it's sooo good. the prices are really good too!
