BTW, is it possible to waive the resort fees at Aria? They're coming out to be $28/night.

Pretty much all Vegas hotels charges a resort fee. I don't think it's possible to waive it. Maybe some hotels.

knight604 05-06-2014 03:34 PM

Not possible...

If there are legitimate reasons then it can probably be discussed. When I stayed at TI we couldn't get the WI-FI going even after calling in for the first two days. Basically told them and they waived two nights of resort fees.

Stayed at the MGM skylofts last week, amazing experience.

^Nice, but all you could show us is a picture of a hallway and basically a wall?

Harvey Specter 05-12-2014 07:01 PM

Lol, these were only pictures I snapped and uploaded to FB before I dropped my phone.

Here's the last one;

$28/night is actually pretty good. I think when we stayed there it was a bit more.

highfive 05-22-2014 01:56 PM

How much was skyloft?

Ri2 05-22-2014 03:31 PM

Have any of you been to the Venetian before?
I'm going to a relaxing girls trip (no partying) and I really want to get a Bella suite because it seems to be the most aesthetically pleasing for the price I want to pay.

I'm looking at July 4-July6/7 depending if I can get the time off work. Looking for something luxurious but I don't want to pay over a G for a room for max 3 nights.

We're going to Vegas in September, again. Westjet had a sale on the return flight, so I booked that first. $175pp seems like a good price (There was $150pp, but had layovers). If I can get a similar or cheaper price for the flight there, then I'll be pleased :).

We stayed NYNY, last time. This time, we are considering MGM Grand.

What are the dates for the WJ sale and when does it end? $175/taxed in PP sounds pretty good!

Just under $1,000/night.

Anyone know a good seafood restaurant, like something fancy in Vegas?

sonick 06-10-2014 09:47 PM

Of the four, assuming all within the similar price range what to pick:

Aria, Vdara, Wynn or Encore?

Vdara - It's essentially like a condo and none of the rooms have 2 queen/double beds configurations (they only have a king with a sofa bed setup). It has a kitchenette and you can request cookware from housekeeping. Smoke free building, no casino (Aria is just a minute walk across) and valet only parking. Tram takes you to Aria, Crystals and Bellagio

Aria - Classic casino layout, rooms are decent but not the biggest (last time I stayed there, rooms already felt a bit roughed up), good location being near the middle of the strip, has a tram taking you to Crystals Mall, Vdara and Bellagio

Wynn and Encore - Essentially the same since they are beside each other, only difference is in the rooms, Encore is an all-suite hotel (similar to Venetian and Palazzo) while Wynn is smaller rooms (similar to Bellagio). Usual Casino and shopping, more at the top of the strip, across from the Fashion Show mall

Personally my rankings would be:

1. Encore
2. Wynn
3. Aria
4. Vdara

I would also recommend the Venetian/Palazzo as they are around the same price range and star level

It was waived for me.
I stayed at the junior suite, and on my last day when I didn't sleep, I saw cockroach crawling on sink and took picture to complain.

Didn't expect cockroach from 5 star hotel...

I assume you're suggesting me to bring a cockroach into the room. Excellent idea sir.

Thanks! This is for my gf and I so bed setup not an issue. Think we are leaning to Encore or Vdara for the bigger rooms. Vdara might be convenient with the tram, especially in mid summer...

Have a bachelor party coming later this year. We are planning to get a penthouse suite for the heck of it.

Any recommendation on which one to book and how to get the best deal?

Obsideon 06-12-2014 10:10 PM

Encore is essentially a slightly upgraded hotel compared to Wynn.
I did not like Aria, the hotel layout isn't my cup of tea. They gave me a room that was far as fuck from the elevator. It took me 16 sober minutes to get from my room to the front desk. Imagine how bad it would be stumbling back wasted :drunk:

I would pick Encore. Although my fave is Palazzo.

sonick 07-02-2014 08:11 AM

Just got back from 4 nights in Aria. Through my agent I got upgraded to a corner suite with a bunch of credits so really got to make use of the hotel's spa and amenities. Having experienced it, I would probably pay to use the Spa next time it was pretty worthwhile. Corner suite was 900+ sqft but did not feel that large as the layout was not optimized well. The first night we were hand-delivered a box of marshmallows from Jean Philippe courtesy of the hotel, which was a nice touch.

Agreed the layout of Aria is a pain having to walk so far, but that's pretty common for Vegas.

Thoughts:
  • Mon Ami Gabi still awesome and great value considering location. Big portions and well made. The frites are addictive.
  • Wicked Spoon was so-so for the price; some interesting 'foodie/international' selections like paella and bone marrow, but selection was mediocre compared to others.
  • Five50 pizza was amazing

Anyone got personal experiences at Monte Carlo? Kinda looks like a hole but bf wanted a hotel that had a lazy river, and Mandalay Bay was like $300/night and we thought that was a little pricey. Thanks!
