Took it in a cemetary? It's ok but I can't really see her face. That license plate looks oddly placed.

Don't know if I'm suppose to be looking at the car or the girl.

The lighting is super flat. A reflector or off-camera flash would do wonders here.

Atlantis 06-22-2007 05:12 AM

hehe, my first portrait shots, thx for the critique, alot more to learn :)

here are the others that came out better then the rest. i didnt get to take much, because i didnt really setup this shoot, it was for my brother in law, i really just had to bring the bike and car :) but i took some anyways :)

yah i need to learn alot more about portraits, and lighting, but i gotta start somewhere.

So you had to do this for your brother-in-law. GF/Wife or is it the vehicles he own cause you said you brought the vehicles :). Nice cars! I think the girl would be prettier with less make up. Overcast day you shot on, no harsh shadows or anything to have to watch out. Definately a good start. Looks like you have some good friends and cars to work with.

If you're doing portraits, I'd try to do them w/o the cars next time. Less to think about?

dub.dub 06-22-2007 05:31 PM

I am uncomfortable with the location... lol.

Boostslut 06-22-2007 06:01 PM

Nice shots! Interesting location. I've taken a few pics there before. Beautiful girl too! :)

Atlantis 06-22-2007 08:30 PM

my brother in law worked with this model before, and she wanted to do another shoot with some sort of import car scene. so my brother in law asked me if my car and bike could be in the shoot, i said yah, so my brother in law drove my car, and i rode the bike there. this was all setup through www.modelmayhem.com

Atlantis: I do like the concept of your photos, but I think something is missing. Maybe there's too much...the background is too busy. Maybe shoot from farther away using a larger aperture with a medium telephoto lens. Shoot during the magic hour for that golden light.

...and go to a less morbid location!

dub.dub 06-23-2007 02:27 PM

I agree with using a longer focal length as these were taken with a wide angle.

Atlantis 06-23-2007 08:40 PM

thx for the comments, yah when i heard it was gonna be at a cemetery, i was pretty hesitant. But i said what the hell. as for the lighting couldnt do much cause it was all overcast, and yah we did start a bit late cause the makeup artist took a bit longer and just as she was finished putting the makeup on, it rained a little but then we had some peaks of the sun coming through, but not long enough sometimes. I just picked up my new sigma 10-20, thought i'd play around with it to see what it can do. :) probably gonna pick up the 50mm f1.8 for portraits since its pretty cheap :)
