@ilvtofu

What size lug is your watch? I just got more horween chromexcel horse leather. I have colors natural, dark brown, reddish brown, black. Single layer is ~2.3mm thick and double layer is what i usually make so it comes out to about 4.5mm thick. Its good for 22-26mm lug width bigger watches. Im using Ritza 25 Tiger thread. Its the best and strongest thread for leatherwork.

Here is a strap i completed yesterday

Figured I'd post this since there'd be a few recent posts about TAG Heuer. I learned quite a bit from watching it.

bcrdukes 11-13-2014 02:15 PM

There is certainly a lost yet rich history from TAG Heuer under the direction of Jack Heuer himself. With TAG buying them out and moving the company in another direction, their products were no longer the same. LVMH was likely their only saving grace, despite a major market share of enthusiasts who don't regard their watches being "up to snuff" with other prestigious brands like Omega.

If you enjoyed the video, I would encourage you to read Jack Heuer's autobiography which is free online.

Thanks man I'll definetly check it out. I know the aficionados don't care much for TAG but I personally have owned 6 now of different price points and have "yet" to have a problem. The fact that they dont make their own In House Movements for their Mid-range Automatic doesn't bother me at all. As far as the recent backlash from the Calibre 1887 Movement that they claim is in house I could really care less. I almost compare it to the fact of how most Luxury/Supercars have many parts suppliers for their engines.

bcrdukes 11-13-2014 05:26 PM

Here is the link to the book for anyone who is interested. It is free to the public as per Jean-Christophe Babin's / LVMH's request.

The download link is at the very bottom of the page. A very inspiring read!

Is there any place to buy watch accessories (Straps, deployment clasps) locally?

I admit I was surprised that they used ETA movements and it was a bit of a let down after I got my watch. But I've learned a lot since then and at this point I really don't mind at all. I saw the thickness of the casing (all one solid piece) and sapphire quality is definitely there. But one slight inconsistency I found was that the second hand (small dial) doesn't perfectly line up with the seconds indicators. It doesn't loose any time so it's probably just in need of a minor adjustment. I am a perfectionist especially when it comes to watches so that's a pet peeve. My opinions are strictly towards the F1 series as I don't have much experience with the Aquaracer's/Carrera's.

thx for all the info @E_Fahlman & @bcrdukes

Just watched Interstellar last night and spotted a Hamilton Kakhi (at first I thought it was the same as yours). It played a quite significant role in the movie. No movie spoilers but check this out The Hamilton Watches From The Movie Interstellar | aBlogtoWatch

This one was custom made without the "day" dial and they had to deconstruct/rebuild the movement of the second hand to move in a morse code pattern.

Added another watch to my rotation and I haven't been able to put it away.

Seiko second generation Orange Monster.

I fucking want it!

Had my eye on the Seiko SKX007 for awhile, but then this deal on the Invicta 8926C "submariner homage" for $90 (plus 5% cash back from ebates) came up.

http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B000...A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB

Typically not a fan of Invicta, but considering it has a Seiko NH-35A movement (better than the 7S26 in the 007) compared to their standard miyota, I pulled the trigger.

I just switched to this suede strap because my original leather one was getting quite worn out. Sucks not to have a deployment clasp any more and I don't want to modify this strap permanently to work with the deployment

i know its a bit old, but what model is that, i have the same watch but with a plastic strap on (dont ask why or how it was a gift)

im looking for a leather strap for the same watch

hundredone 12-05-2014 07:17 AM

The lugs on that Panerai should be 24mm.

Bifold wallet is from Popovleather. Guy is in Victoria and does custom/handmade leather wallets, passport holders.
The one I ordered is a Cherry red Horween chromexcel leather. He only had a batch of the leather to make it though. Not sure it's still available in this colour.
Also, interior divers are black on mine.

Use coupon "TAKEMYMONEY" for 20% if you are looking to place an order.
I'll probably be making another order for some passport holder this time.

I just picked up my skx007 from Blaine. I bought mine off Rakuten for $110 USD shipped. Seems to be the cheapest route. I'm going to order the super bracelet soon

H.Specter 12-18-2014 05:09 AM

I got my burgundy chromexcel cardholder from popovleather as well, fantastic craftsmanship, great leather and an even better price.
