Apparently right now,, my ps3 just got yellow light of death.. after playing some RES 2 purchased off psn store. First time ever experiencing it, so any suggestion of what I should do? I want a Cheapest way to get it fixed. Don't really want to get sony of paying $150. Anyone had this problem before?

Don't get it fixed, the problem will just reappear. Get a new ps3 slim. I had a 60 gig and got the YLOD. Thought I could get it repaired and save my ps3 since I loved the backwards compatability but after it was fixed, a week later, same thing happened, the repair guy fixed it once again and it YLOD 1 day later. He gave me a 6 month warranty and said if it failed twice after fixing it then he would refund my money. Thats what ended up happening and I bought a 120 gig slim.

Was he using that heatgun or infared method to try and fix it? What happens if I send it to sony for repair? Will they give me a slim, because mine is the MGS4 bundle 80gb with memory card slot and BWC??? Since they don't make the old fat ps3 anymore. Thanks for the heads up though, most likely I will have to buy a new ps3 slim.

Where did you get yours fixed? Local or Sony.

I believe it was heatgun. Didn't get mine done through sony. Did it through a local guy here in surrey. Im not sure what sony will do if you send to them. Most likely they will give u a slim but can't be 100% sure.

Yea I just called sony, it will cost me a total of $175.. They're shipping me a box. Will I get my 80gb fat ps3 model back, it has 4 usb slots, memory card slots, and backward compatibility? I still got a disc stuck in there. Or Should I just f it and buy a slim.

To Grandmaster TSE: How long did it take for you to get your ps3 back? Did they give you back your old one or a newly refurbished one?

I believe they give u a reburbed one. So back up your shit. All the restricted game saves are done. you'll have to start off fresh again :(. Thats what happened when i backed up my ps3 and transfered to the slim. Had to restart a few games all over

so I have a nokia bluetooth headset thats compatible with the ps3. Its the bh-320. I searched, found, paired, and adjusted the audio settings on it and was able to hear myself inside the headset and through the tv speakers. I was playing a game online and saw the icon stating that I had a headset but noone or myself could hear what I was saying. Anyone know whats wrong?

EDIT: N/m it was working, I guess you shouldnt be able to hear yourself in your desired output selection. A few people said they could hear me so its all good.

Just got my ST9500325AS seagate 500G 2.5in hdd.

so i updated the firmware on the original 160G hdd, swap hdd's, and i get this error saying it needs 3.15 or higher

is there something wrong with the new hdd?? downloading the update now onto usb key and see if maybe i can do something that way. thought this was suppose to be easy!

copy update file to usb stick

new folder PS3, within that folder, another new folder UPDATE

thus /PS3/UPDATE/

file goes in there! DUH!!!!!
