I second that, at least for SD.

Costco? US?

Hmm.

What type of card are you looking for?

Me personally, I'm trying to get my hands on a couple of Extreme IV (UDMA) 4gb cards...

That's what I'm looking for too. I need Compact Flash, and NCIX is much to expensive!

w00tgasm 04-05-2009 01:07 AM

I just checked...
Sandisk is offering rebates, US residence only :(.

I'll keep an eye out for both of us though.

Meowjin 04-05-2009 03:34 AM

costco

Senna4ever 04-05-2009 03:36 AM

Costco only has Ultra II. Tom, did you get a new camera?

Matsuda 04-05-2009 06:13 AM

I was just at Costco yesterday seeing how much their SD memory was. An 8gb Ultra II was $33.99. I thought it was too expensive considering I bought my Patriot 8gb SDHC class 6 for 20 at NCIX

Ah, but with memory cards, you get what you pay for. Will you still be saying the Sandisk was too expensive when your Patriot card fails on you in a year? I guess it depends how important your images are to you, but I personally do not want to risk losing images.

Not sure about them falling. But Patriots don't work with nikon d90. I have a 16gb class 6 one that works great in a canon p&s. But gives error with d90. And I think it is better to buy two 4gb cards than one 8gb. That way you have backup card if something happens to the first one.

I have a Patriot 8gb and it works fine with my D90, but yeah I read the same thing with the 16gb too

Senna4ever 04-05-2009 02:14 PM

Well, for casual usage, they should be fine, but if you are a more serious amateur or pro, then I would never use a cheaper brand. The risk is too great. How fast are the Patriot cards?

They're pretty slow according to Rob Galbraith's site
http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/cam...?cid=6007-9597

I originally wanted to get a Kingston or Sandisk from NCIX but they were sold out at the time and i really needed a card so I just ended up getting the Patriot. To be honest though, the speed hasn't really been a problem for me when photos are being written to a card. I do have to pick up another memory card before my trip to San Diego next week though so hopefully I can get something else.

It was working fine too until I hit about 40 pics or so. Then I have to take the battery out to get it working again. When it hits around 100 pics, even battery method won't work. Whats weird is that I can get it working again if I stick the card into a card reader(even with write protect on), then put it back in the camera.

I think I took over 200 blank pics one night trying to figure out what was wrong. :p Now I am using 2x4gb panasonic pro high speed (class 6). I think it is a little faster when starting.

Damn tom, I just got back today... I guess you couldn't wait because i do have one.

They are sweet little jigs. it would be better if it was d700 like (better autofocus and faster fps) but still nice none the less the dynamic range is off the hook.

also i feel your pain I have about 40 gig's (or more) of raw files to be editing through...

Mananetwork 04-15-2009 01:33 AM

^Yikes! I think I only came back with half that!

Still not done editing it all!

Meowjin 04-15-2009 01:39 AM
