the boss there is pretty chill and nice...last time they ran outta plum drink and he gave me a beer for free instead..

No one refilled our water/tea/coke for the whole hour and a half, we had to ask.

We had plates stacked 6-7 high and no one removed them from our table.

We had to ask twice for them to add more soup into our pot.

The waitress didn't bother answering a couple simple questions we had about the food.

Zipang Sushi on 21st/Main St. 9/10

The Crazy Roll was delicious, it was simple and had a touch of spiciness.

Rainflower

Recently voted best service at the Chinese Restaurant Awards. My server forgot to type in 2 of the dishes we ordered! We only noticed one of the dishes missing at the time and they brought it out for us free of charge, so I guess the service is pretty good. Fried rice was good and their chicken feet looked amazing (didn't order it though, I was the only one at my table who liked them). 9/10

fucking rip-off place, the portions are so tiny. Basically you are paying for a small bowl of "oil rice" and a few pieces of fat chicken (drum stick meat). The soup is only filled half way. For close to $8, you can find better and bigger portions food elsewhere. Its definitely not cheap. If you look inside, looks like they hire "cheap labour" (rural china fobs) to make the chicken for them, so who knows how dirty food is prepped and handled inside.

Its $7.25 plus HST for the meal BTW. Highly not reccomended if you are hungary because its more like a snack and i'm a small eater too.

To each their own. I love the Hainanese Chicken there, and it's more than enough to get me full each time.

Aji-Toro
Late night AYCE menu
6/10
1) More expensive than other places $13.98+$1 for weekend
2) Does not offer any sashimi at all
3) Food was meh, might even be worse than other AYCE places.

Kumare Filipino Restaurant

Went with 4 guys, spent $16 each on food and were completely stuffed at the end. Crispy Pata, Beef Calderata and Pork Sisig were the highlights.

Suika Snackbar

Food: A
Service: A-
Value: B-

Typical izakaya place, food was pretty good for the most part but unlike Kumare, $35 per person but didn't seem like we got a lot of food. Highlights were their giant steak, pork belly and cilantro-batter prawn tempuras. Chinese poutine sounded cool but was a let-down.

if u goto kumare, portion size is pretty small to average. if u goto pinpin, its pretty damn big. for two ppl, ur good ordering maybe 2-3 dishes and ull prolly be bringing some home as well.

tmc22 01-16-2012 06:43 PM

Hoi An, had the #1 with #2 sauce. 8/10

YEP! Food network HD is dangerous.... Went after snowboarding... told my friends about it and they all seemed to enjoy it.

steak n mushroom pie, chief burger, killer beef dip... homemade blueberry/apple pie, milkshakes...... I need to go back for the deep fried oysters.

Culture_Vulture 01-16-2012 09:18 PM

Ebei on 41st
had the AYCE lunch and it was exactly what I expected
cheap, crap quality, shitty service, and food was even cold on arrival
1/10 would not go ever again

Varied by dish. Grilled chicken was small but crispy pata (fried pork hock) was pretty huge.

3 dishes (about $8 to $9 a dish) and rice will probably be more than enough food for two, I think.

We had 5 guys, all of whom eat quite a bit, with 5 dishes, a rice noodle dish, white rice, and we were all very full by the end of it.

Vera's Burger Shack on Commercial

Apparently there is a new owner for this franchised burger shack. My friends and I had a great time dining at this establishment. The owner... I believe his name was Robbie? provided great ambiance in the restaurant with his positive attitude towards each and every customer and being a socially opened person made it easy to chat it up. What made my experience even greater was that he hook my friends and I on pitchers of beer for a bargain. 10 bucks a pitcher.

Give this place 12/10

May just be another one of those franchised burger shacks, but the customer service and experience was truly exceptional and by far the best I've seen compared to Harvey's, Fatburger etc.

Food slightly pricey, although tasted great with great recommendations from the owner. and a slight discount :troll:

1/10 Red Robins Robson Street
-After being seated and ready to order food, we had to wait 10 mins before able to get someone to take the orders.
- Food took a really long time. They apologized and said they had technical difficulties.
- After being served food, it took about 25 mins till someone check up on us to see if everything is alright or needed drink refills.
- All staff were at the very back of the restaurant, rather than being spread apart.
- Had they have someone at the front, then they would of noticed 2 females that entered the restaurant and sit down at our table and try to solicit money from us.
- i said out loud "does anyone fucking work here?" a off duty employee looked over and then walked out the restaurant.

WHAT A FUCKING JOKE THIS PLACE IS. NEVER GOING BACK!
