Kirin Richmond for Dim Sum Saturday.

10/10.

Good service (for a Dim Sum place)

Tasty and good food... and I love Kirin ALWAYS being consistently tasty (not just 80%... but 100% of the time).

bcrdukes 05-18-2013 08:32 PM

I see they asked if you were ready for the bill. :troll:

LOL.

No, at Kirin, I asked for the bill.

But, if it is getting close to the "last-call" time of around 3PM, they do give you the bill automatically, which I do understand and am okay with.

Marutama Ramen i got "the works"

i really liked the noodles, but the soup wasn't rich enough for my liking. The cha-siu was too lean and dry too.

7/10

I went there last night too, got there at 6pm.

Portions are small and kinda pricey for a bowl of ramen. ($14 for a fully loaded one with seafood, 1 egg, thin slices of pork. Extra $1.25 for extra noodles.)

Taste is 7/10, I prefer pork-bone based ramen. (Kintaro FTW.)

Also, they didn't have any more pork gyozas and their Dashimaki(tamago cubes) by the time I got there, which was a pretty big disappointment.

**BEWARE** Their "spicy" is actually pretty damn spicy, take note.

Abigail's party
chicken and waffles
10/10
it's smaller but totally worth it!

what kind of shit presentation is this?

westopher 05-20-2013 01:06 PM

I like abigails, but their quality has been dropping brutally fast lately, and that looks fucking hilariously bad. I'm not even a big fan of over presented food, but at least don't put the plate on the other side of the kitchen and throw the food onto it like that.

meowjinboo 05-20-2013 01:09 PM

Chicken and waffles require space. Why cant you just use a round god damn plate?

westopher 05-20-2013 01:53 PM

Round plates don't push artistic culinary boundaries....

bcrdukes 05-20-2013 03:37 PM

What about triangle plates? :troll:

sorry, that's kinda my fault, i got a side of bacon and tossed it into the center....

didn't mean to offend anyone..

bcrdukes 05-20-2013 11:02 PM

LOL!

westopher 05-21-2013 12:00 AM

haha no one's offended. I personally was just surprised they would make a plate look so bad. Clearly I had a reason to be surprised.

Culverin 05-21-2013 01:55 AM

Still.... given how many chicken and waffle dishes there are out there, I would have expected a lot better.

I'd go with a small square plate or a round plate.
Waffle at the base and depending on the sizing, stack the chicken 2 at the base, and 1 draped across those, or do 1 on the base, and drape the second one across.

This would allow you to tear at the waffle slowly, but kind of use it at a plate catching the chicken cracklings and chicken juice as they dribble off your chin as you tear into that piece of chicken leaning over the plate.
This also gives you the option of pouring syrup over the whole shebang without any of it going to waste.

I wish I had a waffle maker now.... :okay:

Service: 7.5/10 – Service was just okay. Can’t expect much as both wife & husband have to cook!

Food: 7.75/10 – The food served were pretty good. No complaint there.

Price: 8.5/10 – Dinner for two special for $24. Very good value for the food you get.

went to seasons in the park last night with the gf.

service was great, easily an 8.5-9/10 - server was great, kept complimenting my clothes and my gf and kept coming up to me saying he just happens to have another beer on his tray...I couldn't say no to beer hahaha.

food was pretty damn good.

had beef carpaccio and jumbo prawns for appys.

me and the gf each had the surf n turn as a main- 12oz steak and half lobster each, steak was done a perfect medium rare, lobster was perfect as well.

bill was pretty decent, before tip it was only 120$

give it a 9/10, would definitely go back again.

2 Chefs and a table (Richmond location)

Food: 7.5/10
Service: 1/10

Had to try this place out since I live so close to it and after reading reviews I had to try the chicken and waffles.

The gf and I arrived just pass 11am and we were the first people there. We wanted to sit next to each other on a 4 top table but the server would'nt allow it even though no one was in the restaurant. So whatever we just sat at a cramped 2 top. I can understand that you are probably expecting a lunch rush so I can let that go. Food took about 25 minutes to make after we ordered...but that was ok I can understand they just opened and might be a little behind on prep. What I did not appreciate was how when our food was ready and I clearly heard the chef say order up the plates were sitting on the hot pass for atleast 2 minutes(felt like 5!) even though no one else was in the restaurant!!! What's worst is the chef went over to the server and started chatting him up and not even mentioning again that the food was ready. The server was busy doing something on the computer which I could clearly see him playing with from the mirrors on the wall. I'm sorry but if the restaurant is empty and we are the only paying customers in the room you better drop what your doing and just deliver that god damn food right when its ready and then go back to do whatever the fu*k you were doing. It's not that hard its about the customer in the restaurant business.

Anyways beside the below than mediocre service the food was decent. Would of been better experience if we just got the food when it was ready.

Sadly I do not want to come back, but I probably will because its just so damn close by to my place and the food is pretty good too. I will probably just do take out next time. :okay:
