Absolutely not. I was not offended in any way. Why would I be? It's not like I own the place.

I wanted to understand what went wrong and to provide clarification to any kind of misunderstanding there was and if there was a different burger joint he would prefer, to share with the rest of us.

I didn't mean to offend anyone here. I mean my first time experience at Splitz Grill wasn't the best, but it had some good sides to it.

I like the wide range on sauces they had and the veggies were fresh. Plus they staff were very friendly, and plus the prices were quite competitive.

Despite some pinkness in my hamburger patty, I would still rate Splitz much better than places like Fatburger. I dunno, maybe I'll give Splitz another shot.

This was a while ago but...

Cattle Cafe on Nelson 4/10, shittyasfuck-msgloaded doo doo

Well, I never got the hype for fatburger, most of us could probably do better at home.

The buns aren't fresh or artisan, the fries are meh, and there are not seriously good toppings that come with the burgers.

Just seems like a wendy's burger upgraded.

I just did diva @ the met.

3 + 1 course menu.

roasted red pepper mouse
quite good, not sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised.

albacore tuna + veggie roll
basically a tuna tataki, nothing super fancy served on top of a veggie roll.
don't remember the veggie or what it was filled with, but it was solid.
this dish wasn't too memorable, i'd be disappointed if i got it by itself, but it wasn't bad.

pork belly confit
served with potato puree, fava beans and some iunno, sour beet jelly?
quite good, never actually knew pork confit would be any good, outside of meat was crisp, inside was soft and juicy, very good contrast.

dessert, this was the best part of the meal,
Was a plate of assorted stuff.
chocolate coffee cream served with philo pastry on the side
chocolate (dipped?) coffee cream (like ganache, but crispy)
churros, so crispy on the outside, so soooofft on the inside.
assorted berries.
All meals should end in a dessert this good.

Service: 8/10
Food: 7.5/10
Value: 7/10

Overall, solid, and would recommend.

Mr. Ho's Wonton House - 1/10 :stupid:

Why the hell I had to choose this place out of all the places around Metrotown, I don't know. Too much oil, large scoop of MSG, lack of seasoning, dry chicken.

Athene's
First time there and I was not disappointed at all! Large portions! Much better than Stephos although it's a bit more pricier. Right now, there's a coupon for buy one, get the 2nd entree half off!! Now that's hot!

I got the lambchops that comes with 5 chops and rice and veggies, highly recommended!

Here's the link to the coupon!

small portion? in comparison to what exactly. i think g-men's ramen is the same size as benkei, motomachi shokudo and a bit bigger than santouka but definitely smaller than kintaro which is obscenely huge.

Keg Wellington Location

Haven't been in a while so I ordered the Keg size Prime Rib ... it was massive, HUGE and so tender. But I failed and couldnt finish it, my pants were about to explode. The price difference between the small and Keg size is like 5 bucks but my steak was twice the size as my wifes.

10/10

hal0g0dv2 08-28-2010 08:10 PM

when i go to the keg, i always get keg size, i have never had a bad steak from them

Thai Son (1st Ave) - 3/10

I usually grab a quick bite from this pho joint since I live relatively close. But today's meal was highly disappointing. First of all, they stopped serving the chili oil sauce. I asked if they had any in the back since the jars were missing from all the tables. But I was informed they don't offer it anymore. Too bad I found out after I ordered my pho. When my bowl of food came, the soup was just warm. It's supposed to be hot enough to easily cook the rare slices of steak, and not just hot enough to warm up the noodles. The noodles were also clumped up like a ball. If I ever come back, I'm ordering the rice.

Groot 08-29-2010 05:38 PM

^uh oh sounds like its going downhill like the other pho restaurants that use to be there

Pho Tam

Medium pho tai bo vien and spring roll. Definitely satisfied the pho craving, and my favorite spring rolls in the Vancouver area.

Water was leaking from the ceiling everywhere because of the rain, but no matter.

NIMBY Burger in Kitsilano

7/10. Decent burger for the price, and they try to serve/make it like In N Out. But it's no where close to In N Out =[
