I've always liked the Gastown Guu. Haven't been to the Aberdeen one, but I'm prob going there on Thursday. Interested to try their menu. The Reef on Commercial Drive 8.5/10 |

Fuck everyone who tickle Guu's balls. You guys are morons. |

One thing I hate about izakaya type restaurants is the loud atmosphere. I prefer a quiet place to have my lunch/dinner. |
Hapa is only good if you go to the Kits location or Yaletown.. The robson location isnt that great.. |
Hapa Robson has been going downhill for a while now. Just brought a good friend to Kingyo tonight. 9/10. Only dishes that weren't prepared well were the soft shell crab (thick batter) and the duck (slightly overdone). The mackererl and black cod were excellent. Still the best Izakaya I think in town. |
Kingyo is absolutely amazing! I prefer it more than Guu/Hapa |

try again, fixed i think. |
Dot Desserts 7.5/10 wanted to hate this place at first but the food was alright Ambience was pretty horrible though, place was dark and chairs/tables were wobbly, I almost fell off! I think the guy overheard me telling GF that it felt really eerie when we were the only people in there, and there wasn't any music. And he turned on a pair of computer speakers, at least it lightened the mood a little haha Ordered a mandarin + peach crepe which was pretty good, price is reasonable compared to a lot of places $4.50 isn't bad. GF ordered the berry parfait again pretty yummy stuff, parfait was a little bit pricy but still not bad compared to your typical western chain restaurant. Next time will try some of their drinks. It's a shame this place doesn't feel more welcoming, heck I knew it was on that block but didn't know exactly where until today, they don't even have a sign! |

Service is good, food is even better. I'm a cheap bastard though, I pre-ate last time before I went. Partially so the alcohol wouldn't hit as hard, and partially cause it's not cheap. |

don't bother going to the robson location!!!!!! |

I take it that Alphamale is moreso upset over the unnecessary hype of Guu of which several members on this particular forum have portayed in their posts. |

Same stuff different day. 7/10 |
It's also come to my attention that their servings are fucking tiny. |
was at kingyo.. and like what someone said earlier, the black cod is absolutely delicious! the portions are small, but hey that's expected at these joints. 8.5/10 |

^ Perhaps he was comparing to other izakayas in town. |

I don't think they're that small either. When I go with my wife we usually order around 5-6 plates. We don't go there with intentions of stuffing ourselves, just a decent meal. |
Shiro 9.5/10 The quality matched Sushi Hachi and they also offer cooked food which was nice. Their amaebi was VERY good, even deep fry the head too! -0.5 because my stomach didnt feel very well 2 hours later. Could be the starbucks after though. Definitely better than Kimura on Rupert.
