Silver Tower @ 2am.

Good 7/10. Spaghetti bolognaise w/ ox tongue and stir fried beef noodle in the background.

Kimura last night with a gf. She had the take combo, I had a tempura udon and a few pieces of sushi. I love how they deep fry the amaebi head, tasted SO effin good. Toro sushi was melt in your mouth. Ughhh so good.

I might just get them to cater my engagement party!

Dine out 2011:

Observatory $38

-Bread was perfect and warm, too. I love bread.
-Presentation for food was nice, tasted great, but portions were small.
-Excellent service. Their staff includes a well educated sommelier (wine professional)
-Nice view
-Free gondola ride with reservation was a bonus (I would not go otherwise)
-Would go back

Maenam $28
-They had a unique was of selecting dishes from the menu, for every 2 people you get to share 1 salad, 1 stir fry, and 1 curry. Everyone gets their own dessert. (We had 4 people, so got to try even more food!)
-Everything tasted delicious, but the food portions were just okay. (For example good for a man and woman, but I wouldn't recommend sharing for 2 guys)
-Would go back

Bistro 101 $18
-Bread was cold and nothing special. Gf didn't care for it, so I ate it all just because I am a pig for bread.
-Water glasses were rarely ever refilled.
-Appetizers and main course were okay. Portions were double or triple of that of some fine dining restaurants.
-Big lag time between appetizers and main course.
-Dessert: Gf had chocolate mousse and I had lemon merangue. The dessert kitchen has desserts all lined up, so serving time was pretty much instant.
-Overall only the dessert was good.
-"Culinary school" with the sound of plates constantly being fumbled is to be expected.
-Would not go back, but nice to try.

Phnom Penh - 8/10

Third time this week, ahaha. Got just a strawberry moo-moo shake this time. Made with fresh fruit, but needs slightly more sugar. I like the lychee one more.

Jubilant Restaurant in Richmond, one of my favorites.
Had the fish balls vermicelli as usual. ($5 something and it comes with a drink)
This restaurant doesn't get the amount of customer it deserves, imo.
Their noodles are good, but they also have a large variety of other Chinese dishes.

Haven't found a better pho place in Coquitlam yet but then again we don't exactly have a lot to choose from.

+1, I think its better than Sushiyama that's next door

Alphamale 02-11-2011 12:24 AM

^It's infinitely better than sushiyama, at the cost of price. But it's not THAT much more expensive in the end considering the quality..etc.

It's Korean operated/owned as well, afaik.
