I thought Bernier was doing alright... At least he goes to the net and creates a havoc in front of the net so the Sedins can do their work more efficiently.

Suprised it's not posted yet but Cody Hodgson was sent back to OHL today.

lol, that sucks. He must of got so excited and then got sent down before he even got to play a reagular season game. Makes sense though, he wasn't bad, but wasn't spectacular either.

murd0c 10-06-2008 03:06 PM

I personally think it's a good call sending him back down. He didn't do all that much and the extra yr in jr will help him grow in size and it will get more benifit about of is by playing more then 10mins a game.

Ronin 10-06-2008 03:25 PM

Bad trade. 25-year old d-man with puckmoving skills and probably the best skater on our team for a decent winger and a minor leaguer. The team is full of decent wingers already. I don't want to see Hansen or Raymond get sent down in favor of this guy. For one thing...those two don't cost $1.3m a season.

Ridiculous trade. Go out and get us a real scoring winger and pack up Ohlund, Salo or Bieksa, Gillis.

Hondaracer 10-06-2008 03:27 PM

^ahh think u got your players backwards..Oulette is the minor leaguer, O'briens been a full-time NHLer for sometime now and plays on the blue line..

Great trade imo

I've liked O'brien since i watched him on the ducks, he's going to be a monster physical presence on our blue line

personally i never liked Lucas to begin with, small defensemen are definately not a preferance in my books, and not to mention when did you EVER see him battling in front of the net? or even in the corners? alot of the time last year Kraijek was a liability for giveaways when the pressure was in the offensive zone or when being played physicall

dare i say.. we've got perhaps the toughest team in the NW at this point?

who exactly are you talking about? obrien is in our top 6 on D. oullet is somewhat of a minor leaguer but has had some success playing in the nhl.

nsmb 10-06-2008 03:34 PM

i always hated Krajicek

jlo mein 10-06-2008 03:34 PM

Maybe getting a big, physical defenseman in exchange for Krajicek is a sign that another physical defenseman already on the roster might get traded? ie. Bieksa?

...sorry, misread the trade.

Either way...Ouellet isn't exactly an upgrade over anyone on the team.

Hondaracer 10-06-2008 03:58 PM

^ the Ouellet part of the trade is a wash, it's a Minor leaguer for a Minor leaguer in theory, and Ouelette has more NHL experiance

the meat of the trade comes with O'brien for Lucas, which imo is a definate upgrade

murd0c 10-06-2008 04:13 PM

it puts some grit and muscle in front of lou which we need

Derek_N84 10-06-2008 07:33 PM

Having O'Brien definitely gives Bobby Lou much more needed backup.

Agent X 10-06-2008 07:42 PM

O'briens a big bodied guy. He brings physicality/toughness, decent defense and
he's able to put up numbers offensively.

To be honest, we got a great deal... Krajicek is a pussy.. O'brien's a monster...
Both players still have potential...

Selanne_200 10-06-2008 07:43 PM

I'm all for that trade. By getting tougher in front of lou, hopefully that will prevent as many ppl running lou over during the course of the season.
The canucks' defense is also guilty of being too soft in front of their own net whenever there's a loose puck so I think this will also help.

rb 10-06-2008 07:44 PM

Only thing i like about this trade so far is being able to call Sean O'Brien... SOB

Hondaracer 10-06-2008 07:54 PM

So what are the lines going to be???

it's getting almost to the point that we need to drop pyatt, especially if we pick up another top forward

peice it together:

Sedin - Sedin - Bernier
Demitra - Raymond - Wellwood
Pyatt - Kesler - Burrows
hordichuck - pettinger - Rypien

+Hansen johnson brown ?

then

Ohlund - Edler
Bieksa - Mitchell
Salo - O'brien
7th - Davison

i'm not really saying it's definite but it shows u who needs to fit..

imo Hansen needs to be in the regular lineup.

rb 10-06-2008 07:57 PM

Demitra has requested to play with Pyatt so i dont think he's going anywhere.. for now.

murd0c 10-06-2008 08:07 PM

The will play kesler burrows and hansen together

wellwood hordichuck and johnson/rypien

since they have obrien now they can wave brown. and keep pettinger or krog as a spare.

bossxx 10-06-2008 08:47 PM

Interesting trade today. I didn't mind Lucas at all for his offensive abilities and excellent skating. Some more grit on the back end is definitely something I am looking forward to.

The D needs to intimidate the opposing teams forwards. If any of you guys play hockey, you will probably respect a forearm or a shoulder to the body every time you are attempting to come near the net with the puck. You quickly learn that it is probably in your best interest to look for a pass or take a shot from the outside. With solid D floating around the circles there is no doubt they are gonna be looking to fuck someone up.

The Canucks so often simply wait for someone to come in and try to dangle and then when they get a shot on net they stand in front of Luongo as the D skates away. You gotta set the tone and basically stand up for anyone who attempts to make a break for the net.

Luongo isn't going to let a lot passed him when the puck is outside the box.

jlo mein 10-06-2008 10:55 PM

Sedin, Sedin, Ohlund, Edler...just need one more Swede out there lol.

Harvey Specter 10-06-2008 10:56 PM

Wasn't Krajicek awful last season before his injury? Or was it the year before? I remember swearing and wanting to punch the TV every time I seen Krajicek on the ice because everytime he was on the ice it would result in bad giveaways and lazy ass plays.

bossxx 10-06-2008 10:58 PM

I just realized I have O'brien in my RS1 hockey pool. haha.

He is my PIM guy.

AzNightmare 10-06-2008 11:26 PM

Out of curiousity, I'm just wondering how did Fabian Bruunstrom do in the exhibition? Is he any good?

I'm having trouble finding info about him since exhibition stats aren't really recorded.

hypediss 10-06-2008 11:37 PM

as far as i no ... played one exhibition game 14 mins log 1 shot

BROWN may be a spare in the line up too..
They were going to send him down but they heard that people
are interested in Brown, and they dont want to lose him on waivers
like McIver... Don't know what Gillis has in plan with brown, but he's not
going down.. not yet.
