some fans here at GM place take it too fucking far. yelling CALGARY IS GAY is borderline acceptable by MY own standards. calling IGGY stupid and dumb is going wayyy too far, no one really boos iggy here, he is the ideal role model for a captain of a team, anyways after that ONE lousy CGY goal, he yelled calgary fans are GAY fags out loud, and pissed off alot of ppl, so some screamin and the 4 dumbasses yelling retarded CGY comments starts huckin their beer and popcorn to the ppl sitting next to me, who had a nucks and flames jersey, and then a family with their grandparents from CGY here to watch the game. huckin beer at those ppl, so obviously tehy stick up for the family, and fucking goddamnit the security KICKS OUT HTE PPL BESIDE ME FOR TELLING THOSE FUCKTARDS TO CALM THE FUCK DOWN.

unfair man..un fair
its likes this one retard who kept on yelling FIRE ALAIN, LINDEN FOR GM..all this garbage one trevor's last night game

You know they're not real hockey fans then. After seeing what Iggy did for Trevor in his last game, you'd think people would show Iggy the respect he showed us.

I've seen players want to fight fans after the game telling them they'll be waiting near the bus among other things. Throwing the cans was totally bunk though.

This is part of the home team advantage. Fans talking shit trying to get the opposing players off their game.
But it's when fans take it too far like pouring beer onto the player in the penalty box, throwing full cans of beer at the players, or racist remarks that is going a little overboard.

After watching a few Canucks games on TV, I like what I saw from some of the players and line combinations.
I like the twins/Bernier line. Last night's Demitra/Raymond/Pyatt or Wellwood line looked good. Pyatt didn't look too bad, but he didn't look too good. He still hasn't played to his expected potential. Hanson/Borrows/Kesler line looks good. But who do you put on the 4th line? Krog looked good but what line would you put him on? Pettinger went through this pre-eason without doing anything really wrong, but he also didn't do anything really right.
Schnider was sent down to the Moose today. I hope he has a good season in the minors and ups his trade value or impresses the management enough to do something with him next season.

I was at that game - very emotional moment for everyone there. I believe that's also the game they gave the game worn jerseys to the fans. Even though we got clobbered that game, it was still a very positive atmosphere in the arena that night. That moment right there should be what a Canucks fan should be about.

On the topic of rowdy fans, jackasses that throw stuff should get kicked out and season tickets revoked if they have season tickets.

I remember one year, my bro bought me and my dad some tickets to a St Louis game for my dad's birthday. It was my dad's first live hockey game going to GM Place. What was supposed to be a fun event wasn't for my dad when someone decided to throw a beer cup off the top level (we were in the lower levels) and it hit my dad. He's never been to a game at GM Place since then (he just watches it on TV). Sure was a good way to ruin a fun night out at the game and the experience for someone's first time at GM Place.

Also, with kids and parents in the arena, you don't want your kids getting nailed by a beer cup. I'm sure if something like that happened, it would ruin their experience of the game.

Also, when were beer cans allowed in a football stadium? Canned beer is poured into cups at BC Place...unless you're talking about outside the stadium?

At the last Riders/Lion's game in Regina, supposedly fans were throwing full cans of beer at the Lion's players on the sidelines.

TouringTeg 10-02-2008 11:58 AM

Definitely reminds of BC lions games. They all come out from the woodwork.

Sure itss just preseason but it's still a promising start. I hope this work ethic continues into the regular season and beyond.

They're not at most stadiums, but they're still sold to people IN THE CANS at Mosaic... or were, until a couple weeks ago. Apparently now they pour them into cups for the east side of the field, where the vistors' bench and the cheap seats are, but still hand out cans on the west side. Silly flatlanders!

We beat the Sharks twice now and Sanford faced 33 shots and made some nice saves. This Canucks team is unreal.

Tim Budong 10-02-2008 09:15 PM

honestly..the 6-0 is overshadowed byt he fact that the 6-0 is meaningless
it looks bright, but you know, the sharks might not be putting out 100% effort everynight becuz there is a risk to get hurt and you miss out the games that do count

and also, the lineup is made up of guys trying to make the team so they put out the effort. Who knos, fatboy wellwood could make the team and his conditioning goes down the drain.

but regardless, if they play 100%, now and regular season, we have something good on our hands. on the plus side, last nights effort vs a 95% full roster flames team without our top line or top 4 D showing up, really scares me cuz after seeing the sedins play tonight and their new found "skill" of crashing the net, if their production drops this year, then they might not be back cuz rookie gillis thinks oh, the up and coming is good enuff

who knos
but i must say, one more to go 7-0 in preseason, and then come out on opening night to put out the fire!

Meaningless in the standings, sure... not meaningless for the fact that it shows with the changes Gillis has made, this team CAN score goals, CAN play exciting hockey, and AV CAN coach an offensive-style game.

But the bright side of that is, if Wellwood or anyone else who makes the start of the season, DOES decide to slack off, there's lots of talent waiting on the farm to take his place, and you know if they get the chance to come up, they WILL put in 100% effort to make sure they STAY there.

I can't watch that and not cry. Every time, man. What a beautiful moment in our team's history that we have such a great player and person in Trevor Linden that even the other team stays behind to show their respect.

SumAznGuy 10-02-2008 09:44 PM

Just got home from the Nuck's game and you can tell a few things. Sandford doesn't paly enough and is weak on a few basic things. Armstrong's goal through his five-o was a little weak. His weak attempt to go to his right on a shot that was way wide of the net contributed to SJ's second goal.
That being said, he made some spectacular saves.

Wellwood didn't look particular good out there. He was crusing around a lot, but his keen sense of the game placed him in the right place at the right time quite a few times. But since he was not spectacular, this might hurt his chance of making the team.

Krog looked really good out there. He was over 50% on the faceoffs, and worked really hard to win the final faceoff when the team was shorthanded with 40 seconds left in the game and SJ had their goalie pulled. He was really skating out there, and staying in the play.

Steve Bernier looked really good out there with the twins. A couple of times they had a miscomunication and got in each other's way with the twins, but he also did a lot of good things. He goes to the net, something that Pyatt had trouble with the last 2 years. Him crashing the net led to his goal tonight, and one against Anaheim. He plays the body, very Trevor Linden like in his play.

Hansen did a few good things on the ice. Thought they didn't score, he does look good out on the third line with Burrow's and Kesler.

Raymond was moving his legs well, has good speed and puck control. It would be a shame if he doesn't make the team.

Overall, lots of good things were done on the ice and a 6-0 start is more important that people give them credit for. For one thing, there is less pressure on AV to find the starting lineup. Players like the twins, Demitra, top 4 D men can take the night off while the 5,6,7 D men and other forwards/rookies get more icetime to mature and show AV they deserve to stay at the big show.
Second, the atmosphere is better in the dressing room when they are 6-0 as opposed to 0-6.

rb 10-02-2008 10:40 PM

Just hope they dont get complacent when the games mean something b/c they've been on this run in the pre-season.

Hondaracer 10-02-2008 11:30 PM

thanks for the write up sumaznguy appreciate it

!Nhan 10-03-2008 12:10 AM

Kesler wasn't playing today. It was Krog, Burrows and Hansen. Pretty entertaining game imo. Bernier was pretty good today. I thought Henriks goal was pretty funny as he just stood there waiting for the puck to come around lol.

I think that Raymond needs to pass the puck a bit more. Quite a few times you'd see him circling around with the puck instead of passing it, which leads to turnovers.

All in all a good game, can't wait till the regular season starts.
