^ it's a 3rd line though, and Hansen is always very composed so i dont see why not

Amuse, those are pretty much the lines I would put together as well, although imo i think Davidson will be in a battle with Krajicek for the last spot, and i think it's a very real posability of taking it from him

68style 09-29-2008 09:24 PM

I think Grabner's send-down should be temporary.......

They should trade Pyatt in the begining of the season, he's completely replaceable and Grabner has way more potential.

Hondaracer 09-29-2008 09:29 PM

^ Grabner has done -nothing- during this camp, after watching him in the first games he's played this year i'm having doubts that he will ever posses the skill to become a full-time NHLer

i totally agree however that pyatt is expendable

Agent X 09-29-2008 09:58 PM

Gonchar's down and out... Maybe one of our D-men will get shipped
to PITS for a forward... I'm sure Ray Shero is getting plenty of calls
from GM's trying to rip him off, at the moment.

mako 09-29-2008 10:01 PM

didnt they lose Whitney too?

Luongo

this looks good cuz cowan isn't in it

also I'd rather have kesler and burrows on the same line

Yep, out for 4months or something.. Their D-line is looking weak right now..
should be a move coming soon.

both of them had great success with each other.. I don't think
anyone would want to ruin their chemistry.. Who would have ever
though Burrows would notch that many points?.... I never did.

68style 09-30-2008 08:07 AM

I'm not sure how one can say Grabner did nothing in the pre-season considering he had a point in both games he played this year, led the team in scoring in the preseason last year.......... yet guys like Brown and Rypien are still around when we already have enough grinders / fighters and they are not addressing goal-scoring in any way whatsoever?

I was a little surprised he wasn't going as hard into corners and stuff like that, he seemed to be playing things really "safe" doing a lot of dump-ins and going to the bench responsibly, etc.... but you can't really say Grabner did *nothing* in the pre-season.

411ken 09-30-2008 08:56 AM

I think the hordi/bur/johnson will be a good line. speed/grit that can for sure score some goals. And imagine burrows being even more effective as a pest esp. now that he has 2 guys to back him up in his line? should be fun!!.

Overall, I'm liking that projected lines. I hope everyone stays healthy.

Canucks to make special announcement today at 11:30, streaming live on canucks.com.

Most likely who the new captain is.

CRS 09-30-2008 09:32 AM

OH SNAP!

Thank god I'm not in class. I hope the steaming actually works unlike all those games that they promised but basically didn't know the amount of people that would log on and crapped out.

hi5-ive 09-30-2008 10:33 AM

Luongo Captain!

CRS 09-30-2008 10:38 AM

Captain named!

AND IT IS.....

LUONGO

alternates are Kesler, Mitchell, and Ohlund.

Gumby 09-30-2008 10:40 AM

Crap, I'm at work and my computer doesn't have speakers...

keitaro 09-30-2008 10:41 AM

I wonder if Lu being captain, is something management wanted in order to keep him here longer. Kind of like baiting the fish. Trying to extend that contract of his... hrm...

But great choices for the assistants kessler mitchell, and ohlund

Seamo 09-30-2008 10:51 AM

he won't wear the C because of league rules, but he will be the captain internally.

luongo will take ceremonial faceoffs with his paddle :)

stuff99 09-30-2008 10:56 AM

According to the NHL rule book:

In addition, if the permanent Captain is not on the ice, Alternate Captains (not more than two) shall be accorded the privileges of the Captain

AND

No playing Coach or playing Manager or goalkeeper shall be permitted to act as Captain or Alternate Captain.

i wonder when the league will force them to reverse this decision.

Its simple hes not going to be wearing the "C". This way it technically doesn't violate anything.

winson604 09-30-2008 11:05 AM

Mitchell will be designated as the person who will deal with officials on a nightly basis.

As the longest serving Canuck, Mattias Ohlund will deal with any ceremonial aspects of the position such as faceoffs.

FTW

rb 09-30-2008 11:08 AM

The one caller right after made a good point. Roy and Brodeur were never named Captain and were obviously leaders. It shows how much (or how little) confidence AV and Gillis have in naming someone in the room as the designated captain.

Nah...Ohlund + Mitchell are both very capable captains. I think this is just a case of ownership wanting to bait Luongo into re-signing by giving him captaincy within the room. We all know how hard working and passionate he is so I think this is a great move.
