I was struggling with a decision earlier this week. Buy my dream car or invest the money. The choice is clear now: Send my family (parents + brother) to Hong Kong to see my grandparents, the M3 can wait.

That's a big gift, good on you for sending them to HK. I have the same thoughts as well. Buy a really fun car that won't depreciate that much, but lose out on the market gains on $22k. I think if I can sell my car I'll yolo it.

Well I know my mom is super close with her dad (my grandpa) and I know she doesn't have money to pay for a trip. We locked up most of our money in a private placement. Grandpa recently got diagnosed with another brain tumor, so it would only be right if I could at least send mom to HK to spend time with him.
It's really hard not to be selfish. Could get an m3.. I found a good one too.

^Materialistic toys come and go, can always work and make money to buy it later on.
One of my biggest regrets in my life was not being able to spend as much time as I should have when I was younger with grandparents before they passed away. I worked a lot and at the end of it and reflecting back, money cannot buy family time.

| Her mom and her family didn't like the idea of the age gap. There was no discussion with the mother, but there was suspicions of what we were up to. The situation worked itself out after we got engaged, and they knew I wasn't going anywhere. Since I'm kind of immature, the age gap worked out for us. We also discussed long-term future plans, and decided our goals lined up to team up until the end.
