Right now, a lot of the highways look pretty bad.

I think the #1 hwy could be one of the safest roads to drive. They are by far the most maintained. Just go around 50-70km, those are reasonable speed. Went 70km yesterday when it wasn't that bad. Now 50km would be good.

Yeah, that's why they are trying to get it changed to climate change, because people see warming and go "but it was cold yesterday, theory destroyed!"

Hondaracer 12-21-2008 10:49 PM

fuck is it coming down.. this shit is crazy

Jermyzy 12-21-2008 10:50 PM

Just drove home on Highway 99. Was okay going 65 km/h, although some cars still blew by me. I think there was a salting truck behind me (saw yellow flashing lights behind me all the way home)

I wonder if we'll get that tropical storm like last year, where it suddenly warms up and everything melts away this year!

MarkyMark 12-21-2008 11:29 PM

I was out a few hours ago and two snowmobiles went flying by me on the streets, looks like they were just having fun...I don't know if they can drive them legally on the streets but who exactly is going to catch them when they can go 10 times faster than anyone else lol

k2_alpha 12-21-2008 11:30 PM

fucken hell... got stuck for a good half an hour.....
i hate snow

Roach 12-21-2008 11:37 PM

The side streets are a mess. Even with snowies, I'm getting little traction.

Coming down hard as well.

Oh my god. I found heaven about two hours ago.

A completely unspoiled, uninteruppted expanse of 1' deep snow. It was so light and fluffy that it was tossing so much snow over the side of the car and across the hood that I had to slow it down to maintain any amount of visibility. It was incredible.

Oh, and Famous Players has been quite oddly plowed... I think they accidentally turned it into a dorifto circuit. At least, that's how I interpreted their efforts.

:D

But sadly, Pontiac has informed me that someone has gotten the G8 stuck, and it will not be available for my use on Monday... oh, and someone else in the industry wrote off the Evo X. So, what to get, what to get...

Anyone having problems with encountering idiots that drive in the middle of the road because they cannot see where the lines are and they are too stupid to visualize where their car should be?

I've been stuck by these guys constantly, and of course, they also drive a speedy 20km/h.

better to drive safe in this weather

1983 Z28 12-22-2008 12:06 AM

Safe is not the middle of the road; as Yoda would say.

Gh0stRider 12-22-2008 12:07 AM

took me an hour to get home from work. from canada way&willingdon to kingsway&royal oak. royal oak hill was a bitch. I couldn't even drive into my driveway, so i abandoned my car on the street.

absolution 12-22-2008 12:10 AM

try to go all the way around , avoid royal oak hill.

unless that's where the traction is

Leopold Stotch 12-22-2008 12:52 AM

for some reason my dad has taken it upon himself to do all the shoveling and hasn't asked me once, which is nice, but i wouldn't mind.

I remember when they were so cheap and made me shovel the snow with a dirt shovel. i mean come the fuck on.

Happened to me on #1 yesterday, I flash high beam a few times so they know I'm behind and pass them on the side.

Nothing wrong with going only as fast as you feel safe to, but everything is wrong about blocking others and interfering with others' speed, as I always said.

Meowjin 12-22-2008 01:55 AM

i just worked 16 hours straight

alananana 12-22-2008 02:21 AM

should I attach snow chains before heading out or when I reach the check point on the mountains? im on oem all seasons. they are not too shabby.

absolution 12-22-2008 02:28 AM

YES , please don't drive in ALL SEASON

hc529 12-22-2008 02:30 AM

oh my....... just took me 4hours to shovel my snow..... ><
damn, living in the corner sucks.. i had to shovel extra to get onto the street.....
i had like... 4-5 piles of snow that's taller than me.. (6ft and over)

I drove all day yesterday and tonight on my OEM all seasons. Sure it's not as responsive as winter tires, but it did its job fine. There is absolutely no reason for me to make an additional purchase of $500 bucks to purchase winter tires.

i plan on driving to cypress tomorrow on my all seasons. if they setup check points on the mountains, I will pull over and attach the chains. if not, I drive up simple.

slammer111 12-22-2008 02:58 AM

Heading westbound on Highway 1 by Willingdon about 7pm, was passing an older white CRX-looking thing who was in the right lane. Guy suddenly loses it and does a left 270 across all 3 lanes (missing the back of my car by maybe 1 car length), not sure if he smacked the centre barrier. Thought he was trying to turn around on the highway initially but realized he wasn't going anywhere as he disappeared in the rearview mirror.

FF for teh win.

And yes, shovelled driveway @ 1am this morning. Looked like at least 20cm?

LsquareD 12-22-2008 03:32 AM

Still snowing.. wow.

Bonka 12-22-2008 03:37 AM

Winter tires are no match for 15cm+ snow :( A little painful driving today even main roads..Need 4x4 ground clearance.
