That's literally right across the road from me. I was wondering who took out that lamp post. They must have been sliding down the hill and couldn't stop. The hills on that section are pretty steep. I'm surprised I didn't hear that going down since my bedroom is literally 50ft away from that post.

Was driving around yesterday and must have saw half a dozen cars stuck on 27th Ave (in between Victoria and Nanimo). Every single one of them were trying to turn into side streets and got stuck. I must admit, a good set of snow tires do help. I haven't gotten stuck yet in my TSX with a set of Blizzaks.

Office is freezing even when the stat is turned to max

Roach 12-23-2008 09:45 AM

The snow that has already fallen has become ice. Since my car is lowered, it's making some awful noises as I scrape over anything and everything. Ugh.

Or maybe its just the built up slush stuck to the bottom of your car?
Im not lowered by I hear scraping noises when I go over speed bumps and what not

Its just the slush thats built up, thats what I think :D

syee 12-23-2008 10:06 AM

Probably a combination of slush and the big ol mounds of snow built up in the centre of the road. I shovelled down a bit of my back lane so I could get out because the snow built up in between the tire tracks were getting pretty high. I'm sure the bottom of my car is probably getting beat to shit from all the snow I drove through last night trying to find a parking spot near Anitec. :D

MG1 12-23-2008 10:07 AM

In case some of you didn't know, salt does not work below a certain temperature. You need to use that other thing called Alaskan Ice Melt. It's the most popular brand out there. It works when salt doesn't. It's bluish in colour. I bought a few buckets of the stuff when it was on sale at Costco a year or so ago. I knew it would come in handy one day.

I shoveled the driveway, sidewalk and part of the street beside the driveway and had snow piled up along the street. Been at it for a couple of days now. Some dumbass, redneck in a monstor truck is going around the neighbourhood purposely plowing into the mounds of snow. All that work. He thinks it's funny. Tomorrow, I'm gonna put a pile of cinder blocks and cover it with snow. We;ll see who gets the last laugh.

Metro Vancouver
10:44 AM PST Tuesday 23 December 2008
Snowfall warning for
Metro Vancouver continued

10 to 20 cm of snow expected tonight and Wednesday.

This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A pacific frontal system will approach the British Columbia coast tonight bringing snow to the area. Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm are expected tonight through Wednesday. The snow will taper to flurries Wednesday night as the system moves away from the regions. Strong winds will also develop as the system approaches and visibility will be locally reduced in blowing snow.

Meanwhile, Arctic air will continue to push through the coastal valleys and inlets producing very strong northeasterly winds giving wind chill values below minus 20 for the inland sections of the north coast. Conditions are expected to improve late Wednesday as temperatures rise and winds moderate.

It's definitely ice. I would liken the sound to scraping over a lansdowne speed bump. Happening on all the side streets and left turn lanes, basically anywhere that hasn't been plowed.

My car is just too low for this much snow.

Middle of the road or wet shoes?...Middle of the road or wet shoes?...Middle of the road or wet shoes?...Middle of the road or wet shoes?...Middle of the road or wet shoes?...Middle of the road or wet shoes?...Middle of the road or wet shoes?... AHHH GTFO the road.

Why do people prefer walking in the middle of the fucking roads when there's a paved sidewalk few feet away with much less potential for getting KO'd by a vehicle. Then when they move over they give you this glare, like your in THEIR WAY.

hotjoint 12-23-2008 10:43 AM
