^ highly doubtful. Weber is that good. Gillis would have to perform a miracle to land him without giving up too much. There's no way he's making it to UFA status.

BTW - Who advertised this thread to CDC?

lu is under all this scrutiny not just for losing in the 2nd round to chicago again but it is how they lost the series. there were a lot of soft goals given up by him throughout the 6 game series that deflated this team. he came up with some big saves here and there but overall he was out played by niemi by a far margin. having said that though, the entire canucks team were out-played by chicago anyway.

i still think luongo still have some good years left. he may just get on a hot streak ONE year like giguere or ward etc... lets just hope our core forwards/defense will still be at the peak of their careers when it happens. :p

Shea Weber is not coming here unless the Canucks trade for him. What they'd have to give up to make that trade happen is to much. He's going to be a RFA in 2011/2012 not a UFA. That would mean if the Canucks gave him an offer sheet in the 6.5+ million range it would take to sign him they would have to give up 4 first round picks to the Preds. That is not happening, not now not ever.

To be a UFA you have to have 7 years in the NHL and be 27 years old. He will have 7 years but he won't turn 27 until August of 2012 which means he's a restricted free agent not unrestricted.

I want the Hawks to win as I think Montreal would actually have a shot at beating them. The type of game the habs play is the same type of game the Hawks have issues playing against.

FerrariEnzo 05-16-2010 02:57 PM

im not at all surprised they couldnt make it past the 2nd round.. its like this for how long? either they get kicked out first or second round..

not even a handful have they gotten through to the finals...

1994 was the best canucks TEAM!

Shea Weber is NOT going to come to the Canucks. No chance. There is nothing we could possibly offer for him that would be in the range that the Preds would want and even if we could, there's no way Gillis is dumb enough to decimate our future to get him here.

The Preds also have ZERO reason to trade him. Even if they have no intention to sign him right now, all they have to do is wait for him to go RFA and they'd get a monstrous package for him...and even that is unlikely to happen since all the GMs around the league saw the dumbass move Brian Burke made to get Phil Kessel.

Our best bet is to go after Hamhuis, Volchenkov or re-sign Willie. The trades aren't there...we need to get Hodgson, Schroeder and Grabner up to the big club when they're ready. With the salary cap, having good young players is essential. Trading for anyone that will cost the club is not a viable option anymore.
