Yeah, but if they actually do make it next year, if it's anything like Bur, Kes & Raymond, it'll reasonably be 2 to 3 seasons before they I expect them to start having a noticeable impact to the team.

I'm with HachiSix in saying it'll still more or less likely be the same team with the same 2nd round result. It'll be a good show on the regular season though :).

Does this mean we'll get knocked out by the second round? No.

Unexpected things happen in the playoffs. Even if we're the same team, if you run the entire playoffs again, we could get knocked out in the first round, we could get the same result and get knocked out in the second round (possibly to another team other than the Hawks) or even go all the way to win the Cup.

Did anyone expect Philadelphia and Montreal to be fighting it out for the East? Obviously not. Are either of them better teams than we are? Most likely not.

You don't have to be the best team on paper to win the Stanley Cup. You just need to get hot at the right time.

Agree. A better team give you a better opportunity.
But any stacked team can choke if they don't have any players playing good.

I don't know what kind of changes to expect in the off-season though.

I don't watch the games in the East a lot.... Is Marc Staal solid defensively? Doesn't seem like he puts up a lot of points.
