I want to see Hawks vs. Habs.

cctw 05-23-2010 04:25 PM

I'd say Flyers in 6 for the SCF...mvp...GIROUX! hahah

Not really racist! 05-23-2010 04:26 PM

Go Flyers Go!

As much as I want Montreal to get to the finals, I don't think its gonna happen.

First off, they're fans are douche bags. I know, I went there to watch game 3 last year.

Second, they've had good competitive hockey for a few years, after a decade or more of shitty hockey.

Third, they're not going to have the same team next season.

Therefore, they have to take in as much as they can right now.

I think most Canucks fans would rather win the cup and have a sucky team for the next couple of seasons compared to the Canucks team we have now.

agreed. that's the only way to build a cup winner now it seems. suck for 3 years, get 2 first overall draft picks, and then win the cup 3 years from then.

top3 draft picks make a ***HUGE*** difference for a team. look at ours. hank and dank #2/#3 -- one of which is now an art ross winner. took a lot longer than people wanted, but you need those picks to have any shot at winning.

i will gladly take being a last place team if it meant a cup in the future.

that's not the only way to get high draft pick.

boston is getting a #2 pick, and they still made it to the playoff this year.

the alternative way of getting high draft picks would be by lucky trades

How to get high draft picks while still finishing high: trade with the Leafs. Guaranteed top 3

Usually getting a top 3 pick means youre GM has sucked ass at his job. Look at Detroit. They havn't had a top3 pick for 3432432 years and they are the closest thing to a modern dynasty right now.

Look at Florida or NYI. Theyve gotten some pretty high picks over the years yet they are still laughing stocks of the league.

And not all top 3 picks are guaranteed successes. We can thank Brian Burke for the Sedins though.

^This is what happens when you have a lottery draft, it's been a big issue for the NBA for years now, teams tanking on purpose, mediocre teams going nowhere, and great prospects wasting formative years on bad franchises. It's good that in Hockey there's plenty of talent in the later rounds.

.

To be fair if Milbury never made one trade the whole time he was there they probably would have competed for a cup. They draft great they just traded everything away.

Even though he failed the other 2 times, I'm pretty impressed Hossa has managed to pick a team that went to the finals 3 years in a row

vash13 05-23-2010 09:09 PM

We need D men!

I think the keyword is a different team 3 years in a row. Thats the impressive part.

peter nedved and alexander daigle are two hugs busts. Less with peter nedved tho. There are busts all the time in the league Patrick stefan etc it's the players that you get in the later rounds that really matter because you more then likely know what you are getting with the players in the 1st or 2nd round.

yes...but you could be like the NJ Nets, have the worst record and end up with no.3 pick - no john wall or evan turner!
