True! Maybe Raycroft would have an even better record then :troll:

LUUUUUUUU 05-14-2010 11:29 PM

ya Mike Brodeur from Ottawa was 3-0-0 with 1 shutout
that's a 100% winning percentage and 33.33% chance of a shutout every game maybe ottawa should've started him 90% of the games and he'll be all godlike and win them the cup

DuhDang 05-14-2010 11:37 PM

guys..... stop argueing and just admit it. After Luuu signed the contract we rarely saw luongo in GODMODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pretty sure is not a 7million dollar difference worth since there are better cheaper defensemen on that team... and on any other teams there are a a lot more D so 7mil should show a huge difference

I really don't know what are you talking about here. You made a comment strictly about Campbell and I merely stated that Chicago pretty much tanked without him. Pretty much one of the turning points for Round 1 for Chicago was his return. You rarely see his worth until you are with out him.

If you don't pay him some other team will its just a fact.

goo3 05-15-2010 01:12 AM

Just to keep things in perspective, MAF choked pretty bad the other night in game 7. So should they trade him now too?

Uhhhh, this play-off, Martin Brodeur is 38 and Luongo is 31. If people are thinking Luongo just entering his 30's is on par with the great Martin Brodeur closing into his 40's, well that's just fucked up.

And unless we lose the twins, or let guys like Kesler or Raymond walk, the team is never going to sign a pair of high calibre $6M(ish) defensemens. With Lu's contract, he will have to make do with $3M defensemens and just be the best defense out there; not his contingent of $3M counterparts for the next following years to come.

Gillis lucked out on Erhoff anyways because of SJ's salary dump for Heatley but you can't always count on luck; and Erhoff isn't even a star nor elite defenseman.

AzNightmare 05-15-2010 03:26 AM

I figured at this point, it really doesn't matter who we have on a team.
When it comes playoffs, it's simply who's on a hot streak.
You can have star goalies and players on a hot streak, or you can have
backup goalies and regular players play like superstars.

Many stacked teams just choke early, and many teams ride on a hot goalie.

Canucks simply had no one on a hot streak. All that depth was no where to be found.

They're over the cap with only 14 players signed!

Why?

Kane's salary goes from $875k this year to $6.5M next year.
Toew's salary goes from $850 this year to $6.5M next year.
Keith's salary goes from $1.9M this year to $8M next year.

That's three players that they're paying a total of $3.625M this year, that they will have to pay $21M next year - a difference of $17.375M.

Nevermind they still have Hossa at $7.9M, Sharp at $4.1M, Campbell at $7.14M, Huet at $5.625M...

Bottom line is they are SCREWED starting next year.

wow.. talk about a tight salary cap.

I think they are gonna try to trade Huet away over this summer to free up a bit of space.

yea cuz he was such a huge factor he had 0 points and +1 and played half the time seabrook or keith played, and campbell was huge in the canucks series too right? well worth the 7 million

chicago was down 2-1 they didnt tank in the first round without campbell, and with him coming back he barely did anything to help yet, thats why u rarely see his worth

yup luu is no where near what brodeur has accomplished for sure,

and it's awesome that brodeur had help like stevens and niedermayer earlier on
all luongo had was bieksa sending breakaways and 2 on 1s back to his goaltender with awesome no look passes

brodeur is a better goaltender than luongo, but u can still see that brodeur can still fuck up and lose a series for the team without help

luongo overrated? yea... but most overrated player in the NHL? no way

I don't know if he's the most or not.
But he's definitely up there as one of the most overrated.

As someone said earlier though, salary (bad contract) is not equal to
most overrated.

Overrated players need to be talked about and brought up from hype and media.

Campbell, as your example, no one talks or cares about him.

Luongo on the other hand, Team Canada goalie, supposely the best goalie in the league (or world), etc.
He's like the "Crosby" of Goaltenders, except Crosby matched the hype, and Luongo... not really.

Btw, I'm kinda neutral in this topic. But I thought I'll share that salary and overrated isn't exactly related.

Name me any player in the NHL today that is currently more overrated then Luongo. This player has to be considered a "super-star".

This is a guy that came back from quite a serious injury. Campbell's an elite puck mover which is a hot commodity now-a-days in the NHL. He scored 38 pts in 68 regular season games while being +18. He might not be worth 7 mill a season but he's definitely a 5.5-6.5 mill type of d-man. Ask any Blackhawk fan how important he is to their team.

Joe Thorton :p

LUUUUUUUU 05-15-2010 05:25 AM

yea of course overpaid and overrated is a different thing, but they are related to an extent
they aren't really considered overpaid unless they consider them a bust or overrated in the first place... did they not overrate Brian Campbell in the first place if they now think 7 mil is overpaid for him considering he's not even in their top 2?

Phaneuf, Campbell, Thornton, Briere, Gomez and Lecavalier, yea don't tell me vinny wasn't considered a superstar... ppl considered him to be up with crosby and ovie until the last couple years that he's been a bust

lol ask any hawks fans how big of a bust he is expected to be their top D but is just an expensive overhyped 3rd or 4th D instead, all the hawks fans are just saying how much better they could've been had they not overrate and overpay Campbell, Huet and Johnsson...

FerrariEnzo 05-15-2010 05:53 AM

Bobby Lu, he didnt play as he is expected, and he knows.. which has probably gotten to him mentally...

think about, if your hailed as the one of the BEST goalies, and you dont play as you know can, wouldnt that take a toll on you mentally also..

BUT i think hes doing a good job, one of the best goalies in canucks history, after Kirk McLean!! haha..

i think the 1994 Canucks team was the BEST!
http://www.vancouverrestaurants.com/...994canucks.jpg

LUUUUUUUU 05-15-2010 06:03 AM

exactly, luu is considered overrated cuz he doesnt win or make it to the finals.. that seems to be what all canucks bandwagoners think... vancouver's a goalie's graveyard cuz it's either make it or u are a bust... all elite goaltenders look shaky at times it just takes a hot streak to go far and luu's definately capable of that, yet he's not even at the 1st year of his 12 year contract and ppl are already saying he's a bust and is overrated.. which "elite" goaltenders are left in the playoffs? only nabokov and he's got a heck of a team to back him up even if he fucks up, no other teams would be worst than canucks at clearing byfuglien outta their goalie's face as well

LUUUUUUUU 05-15-2010 06:10 AM

^ u forgot gino

AzNightmare 05-15-2010 06:21 AM

Gino's native victory dance's the best

SkinnyPupp 05-15-2010 07:19 AM

One cool thing about the 2010 playoffs:

Blackhawks haven't won the cup since 1961
Flyers haven't since 1975
Habs since 1993
Sharks have never won the cup ever, they joined the league in 1991

Since 1993, only 8 different teams have won the cup

My pick would be the Hawks

LUUUUUUUU 05-15-2010 08:30 AM

im going hawks too

with Hawks VS Flyers in the finals Richards VS Toews
Toews for Conn Smythe

Toews, Keith, Seabrook or Pronger, Richards or Boyle, Thornton, Marleau, Heatley will have a gold medal and a stanley cup at the same year what a year would that be... assuming habs dont win it

cctw 05-15-2010 10:02 AM

^but i wanna see hossa cry over not getting the cup for a 3rd consecutive year with three diff teams lol

FerrariEnzo 05-15-2010 10:08 AM

man, we should have gotten marion hossa.. prolly could have played better!

FerrariEnzo 05-15-2010 10:08 AM

lets trade the Sedins for crosby-malkin... :P

Ludepower 05-15-2010 11:00 AM

hawks gotta go for bust...they aint ever having a stacked team like this again.

woob 05-15-2010 11:02 AM

fuck the Hawks.

I still want the Habs to win.
