At joeys robson, Vineault, Mellanby, Bowness and the rest of the Canucks staff here, they didn't seem impressed when I asked them how the golf was

POSSIBLE glove hand injury for luongo but it could be just speculation.

Wow I never knew the twins were injured

MR_BIGGS 05-19-2010 07:37 PM

It seems like the 3rd round of the playoffs aren't always that close.

Last year the Penns swept the Canes and Detroit took out the Hawks in 5. This year is shaping up to be the same way.

pure.life 05-20-2010 12:31 AM

Hank and Dan with Strombo!

Harvey Specter 05-20-2010 12:35 AM

^
A side of the Sedins you rarely see, great interview.

Noir 05-20-2010 12:42 AM

Thanks. I always love Strombo interviews. I just love the humility with the twins. They've always been great players but I don't think I've ever seen them with an ounce of ego, arrogance or self-entitlement despite their the celebrity status within the 9 yrs in the franchise.

604pt 05-20-2010 01:24 AM

Thanks for that. I'm excited for the draft and the upcoming season already.

FN-2199 05-20-2010 01:38 AM

LOL they tried fooling the refs a few times in the faceoff circle :haha:

Tim Budong 05-20-2010 01:39 AM

Strombo is probably one of the greatest hosts/reporters out there in Canada

I remember when he was still working for Much, alot of the guests would request to have George as a requirement to appear on much.

HENRIK SEDIN NAMED SPORTING NEWS' NHL PLAYER OF YEAR

Centre Henrik Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks was named the Sporting News' 2010 NHL player of the year Thursday.

Voting for the award was conducted by a panel of 363 league players, coaches and executives.

Sedin garnered 108 first-place votes to outdistance Washington's Alex Ovechkin, who was second with 86. Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby finished third with 72.

Sedin led the NHL in scoring this season with a career-high 112 points. He also had 18 points -- including 10 goals -- in the 18 games identical twin brother Daniel missed with a broken foot.

"Some guys thought it was the two of them or nothing," said fellow Swede Niklas Kronwall, a defenceman with the Detroit Red Wings. "He really proved everyone wrong."

Expresso 05-20-2010 02:05 PM

So Canada lost to Russia today in the WHC, 5-2 today.

Pretty sad I think we lost to the Russians 3 years in a row now. The only bright side is Messier failed and I hope he doesn't get another GM position ever!

WHC is useless to a lot of players.

We basically iced our "C" team for the WHC haha

carisear 05-20-2010 02:18 PM

yes, but even Canada's C team should be able to compete against other countries A-team (heh)

but +1 on messier failing. i DID like how he chose all young players to go though. gives them more int'l experience.

I just like it that we're not the centre of the world anymore when it comes to hockey. Some Canadians get an identity crisis out of that; to me it just means that hockey is becoming more and more relevant in places other than Canada.

Hondaracer 05-20-2010 02:37 PM

it was Russias Olympic team against a team with Raymond on it..

not hard to see how they could lose

14 russian players from the Olympics?

Mason Raymond....:haha:

MR_BIGGS 05-20-2010 04:51 PM

I'm not one to cheer for the last Canadian team left, but I respect the magic that is the Bell Centre and the Montreal Canadians...fans are crazy loud...

Tim Budong 05-20-2010 04:59 PM

the WHC doesnt gather as much interest on this side of the Atlantic compared to what the Europeans see that tourney as. Some players are uninterested because the IIHF doesnt sell the tournament as one of those you gotta be here type of things. At the same time, the timing of this tournament makes it difficult for some players to fly across the pond to participate. Most guys would want to nurse and rehab any bumps and bruises to get ready for next year.

Keep in mind, This is european hockey, played on familiar territory for alot of the players that are involved with this tournament. It also comes after the entire KHL/SEL/Swiss league has ended.

The Russians see this tourney as a bigger deal than most of the Canadian players do anyways. The Russians this year also HAS TO redeem themselves one way or another by joining this tourney. That shit performance they gave out during the olympics was an embarasment, the WHC allowed the players to showcase themselves
