you always need somebody that is willing to do the dirty work for a line to succeed. that's why burrows did so well last season because he was the one that was willing to do all the dirty work that the sedins aren't use to

"As long as the team wins and we're successful, I'll be happy," said Burrows, who centred Darcy Hordichuk and Steve Bernier on Sunday. "We'll see what happens."

Wow, Burrows trying to be a Centre now? lol.....

It's like asking the twins to take the role of checkers. It's not really unwilling. It's just that their game doesn't have the dimension to accomodate for it.

yup i realise that. it was all the commentary that naslund couldn't play well "even with the sedins" that kind of boggled me. he was indeed a finesse player.

Another thing I've noticed is that there's still tickets available online (except Pitts/Wash. of course)... I guess ppl doesn't want to pay 100$ a ticket for upper bowl haha.. There's still a possiblity that someone will buy them but do you guys think that our "sell out record" is in jeopardy this year.

Just for your fantasy pool needs.

The Sedins are tricky. That's why I have a little bit reservation on Samuelsson. Good acquisition, but I'm just going to let time tell its story.

IIRC:

First try: Bernier was supposed to be power forward who was "willing" to do the dirty work for the Sedins and the abuse in front of the net. Great acquisition, but that didn't last even more than a few games until his skills was re-applied to the checking role.

Second try: Sundin was acquired to be that big offensive presence "Byfuglien Style." A starplayer supposedly to be a hefty upgrade from Pyatt for the role. Another great acquisition that didn't even last month until he was relegated to the 2nd line.

That being said, just because Samuellson is willing to do their dirty work doesn't necessarily mean success for the Sedin line. Or maybe Alain Vigneault just gives up too fast on his lines like he did Bernier & Sundin; unless you hit immediate success like Burrows.

Good.

It's about time all the idiots woke up and stopped paying such crazy prices. That's the only way they'll lower ticket prices.

Unfortunately, this is not going to happen in such a hockey crazy market like Vancouver.

Hell, when the Canucks lose, the city feels it. It is as though everyone is a bit more sad and depressed than usual.

Ya, the only thing that will lower ticket prices is if the games stop selling out. With a three year waiting list or whatever it's at now that isn't happening anytime soon. The team would probably have to miss the playoffs three years in a row and sales fall off before prices came down.

Essentially, the canucks would need to be like the avs, coyotes and kings combined in their terribleness which would never happen.

If the canucks are even a half assed mediocre team, tickets will sell.

I guess your forgetting about the mid 90s to 2001. You couldn't give tickets away, I remember so many people offering tickets for free or half priced of face value and still having trouble getting people to go.

Didn't they miss playoffs between 1996-2001 (so like 97,98,99,00) and the Messier time?

Yeah, those were some bad times...

I wonder what would happen if vancouver had 2 teams like NY does.....

Harvey Specter 09-14-2009 01:05 PM

The feed on sportsnet tonight is in HD so it should be good.

If both teams had similar success then I can see both succeeding. Just look at the 3 year wait list for season tickets and you know the demand is there.

Tim Budong 09-14-2009 01:23 PM

Burrows is a good fit becuz of the dirtiness, but Burrows also is GRIT, which is why i think he fits soo well with the team

No. Tavares is sick.

Harvey Specter 09-14-2009 02:42 PM

I find it weird that CBC didn't show this game tonight seeing how it was a CBC contest.

VANCOUVER, B.C. - After years of deftly handling a stick for the Vancouver Canucks, former captain Trevor Linden has been asked to carry the Olympic torch.
Linden says he's honoured by the invitation but doesn't yet know what leg he'll be running during the cross-country trip.
The retired hockey great shared the information as he endorsed the highly-anticipated Electronic Arts' video game NHL 10 in Vancouver.
The 2010 torch relay begins its trek in Victoria on Oct. 30, and will travel 45,000 kilometres around Canada.
The relay will make stops in every province and territory during its 106-day journey before the Olympics begin in Vancouver and Whistler, B.C. in February.
Other athletes slated to carry the torch include NBA star Steve Nash from Victoria and Calgary golfer Stephen Ames.
