He didn't bring/pack any sticks when they flew out.

Anyone glad as to how deep we are in D right now? Our young D prospects are for sure not ready...I know it must've first game jitters but Oberg/Rome and even Sauve looked sluggish out there lol..I like O'Brien and he looked like an all star out there today..wearing the "A" and all haha..

We'll see how the kids do next game...

ya lol and he was shooting the puck from the point, something that was never his job..

Hondaracer 09-15-2009 11:35 AM

I know this will probably just sound like I want to suck his dick but last night I thought wellwoods foot speed looked noticeably improved from the stop-go, also bursts once he got the puck on his stick

Sounds like you want to have his kids. j/k!! :D

spoon.ek9 09-15-2009 12:52 PM

oberg was terrible last night.

411ken 09-15-2009 01:19 PM

I also don't get the Bure and Shirokov comparison.. I mean.. really? Shirok is not even close to Bure's speed... Sure, he is talented and i'm a fan of him but to say Bure 2.0 or whatever is just crazy.. lol..

And yes, Oberg was pretty bad last night.. he must be kickign himself for having that type of a game against the Isles rookies,etc...

Any idea if Hodgson will play the next game or what?

Tim Budong 09-15-2009 01:21 PM

Oberg needs to learn to play up to AHL and even at times Major Jr. footspeed comin outta the NCAA
lol

Shirokov as next Bure, well, hes got that stance that bure sorta has, skates low, good puck control, speed might or might not come, but he definatly is the real deal

this team hasnt seen a dangler like Bure since Bure!
Ruutu dont count
BWAHAH

Gumby 09-15-2009 01:30 PM

Yeah, saying Shirokov is Bure 2.0 is a bit premature at this point...

d1 09-15-2009 01:41 PM

It's not premature - the comparison should simply never be made.

hotjoint 09-15-2009 01:48 PM

Shirokov will never be bure. Shirokov will be Shirokov, Understand?

+1 and after one pre season game we can compare him to Bure? We'll see how he progressives in the remaining preseason games to really judge his skills.

AzNightmare 09-15-2009 01:58 PM

I remember the prospect report stated Shirokov was a strong skater, but not a fast skater.
Bure was a fast skater. A very fast one that is. Shirokov =/= Bure.

I'd even hold out on judgement until he reaches the NHL level.

It's CDC. The place where you can not know anything about hockey but be cocky about it.

They're gonna be hella disappointed that Shirokov's not going to be a 40 to 50 goal scorer since if he cracks the Canucks team this year, he'll only be getting 3rd line minutes at best.

By then you'll see countless threads of "Shirokov Sucks" or "Shirokov's a Bust" "Trade Shirokov for a bag of pucks." I really just want to shoot these so-called hockey pundits in the face.

JKam 09-15-2009 02:34 PM

I think he was using Bieskas stick because he forgot his own?

It was a pretty Bure like goal.

Not drawing anything more than that but seriously, the foot to stick goal was Bure like.
