Now if we are on par with our goal scoring next season or better....we'll be a pretty damn solid team. Solid O + Solid D + Lu = Win! |

You sign 3 defencemen in the span of 20 minutes because it is a fucking sick deal. Rahimi (ahl D) + White (wasted pick) for 2 capable NHL defencemen is awesome. Schneider, although old as shit, can still QB a PP and put up points - we didn't even have to give up any assets for him (other than $). Yes, we have way too many D now but this gives us options for depth, a trade, buyout, or whatever. |
4.5mill cleared for Sharks, Heatley is coming. Wonder who we're trading. interesting. |

***It pretty much depends on Samuellson, if his offensive presence can outdo that of Sundin's. ***And for whichever incoming D that will be replacing Ohlund's offensive contributions. It pretty much comes to that, but both are pretty tall orders IMO. I'd say the team overall regressed, but since the changes are so minor, so is the regression. |

http://twitter.com/darrendreger Sharks trade with the Canucks frees up $$, but i'm told talks on Heatley have gone cold. |
Ok. Now I'm getting excited. |
We needed a player like Schneider since we lost Ohlund. Doubt he'll be around next season but we'll see how big of an impact he is this season. |
i say trade away bieksa..he's gonna turn into another ohlund |

I'd even go further to say that Bieksa has even way more defensive lapses than Ohlund but people seem to value Bieksa's on ice contribution more. Quite the injustice IMO for an NHL veteran who has a solid career. |
Just heard Schneider on the team 1040, he told his agent he only wanted to sign with the Canucks this summer. He could've gotten more elsewhere obviously. |

I will never forget Wellwood's interview with his fucked up tooth cause of a high stick! Interesting day for the Nucks! |

WOW! Great day for the Canucks! Thank you MG! So glad Patrick White is gone! But he better not turn out to be the next RJ Hamburger! |
the future of the nucks looks bright. Im just waiting for Lu to sign an extension so i can go out and buy my team Canada jersey Also in terms of "Schneider only talking to Vancouver" this is exactly what i talked about earlier and was mocked about in this very thread, Vancouver under Gillis is becoming a destination players WANT to come to, they know the city is one of the best on earth, they know the organization is top class and they will do anything to help players progress and develop within the organization, and they know that the Canucks are willing to do everything it takes to win, period. Vancouver is becoming a top tier franchise in the NHL and the way things are going, were only going to keep progressing, this is going to become big if Gillis continues his transition and shows the league as a whole what we have to offer here. |
a bit of trivia ... so since Ehrhoff is German, who was the last German to play for the Canucks? |
Yup, future does look bright and so far Gillis has done a good job. |

I want lucic to make the team.... im so going to get a lucic jersey. Rep champlain!! |
he looked decent yesterday at the red VS white, but its hard to place him in a position without physical play these are 2 posts i made on CDC, thought i'd share my thoughts here as well: In this Mike Gillis era things are changing, and they are changing for the better. When Gillis first arrived he promised that the Canucks were not only going to move forward in their on ice product, but also in every aspect off the ice, he said they were going to promote a winning culture of which players would want to be a part of, and want to come to, imo this is happening already and the recent signings are a clear sign of these very things. Today during the interview with Schneider, he mentioned how the only team he had talked to was the Canucks, and how he wanted to be "part of a winning organization in a great city that was determined to win" Examples such as the Beriner training regiment [which has clearly paied off], Wellwoods personal trainers, nutritionists being brought in on a daily basis for pre-game/out of game meals, etc. Players outside of Vancouver are taking note of an organization who is giving full time attention to ALL their players in an attempt to put the best possible product on the ice, and the opportunity to live in one of the best cities in the world isnt a bad lure either If Luongo signs an extension sooner than later this will only further these previous points as other players will see we have cornerstones in a franchise determined to win not even mentioning the determination of the Aqualini's to spend the money it takes, Players like Kesler, Burrows realizing/expressing their realization that players must take less in order for a team to succeed, the sedins taking a hometown discount to stay within this organization, etc, etc, etc. Bottom line is, the future is bright and we should all look forward with anticipation and excitement. -- When you lose weight and gain muscle, can you really consider that a downside? even if it doesn't result in pucks in the back of the net you've got to think it will help improve his defensive play and the backcheck at least the season has not started yet yes, but the moves made definately bode better for our chances of making a run then simply doing nothing and standing pat with what we have. At least 2 of the defensemen added today could definately be considered an instant upgrade over ohlund, and although schneider may not be in terms of speed he more than replaces his breakout passes and Ehroff can definitely make up for the lack of foot speed ohlund lacked, 2 things which were devastating to us against the hawks. -- In addition to all the previous factors I listed, a newly renovated GM place and locker rooms isn't exactly a deal breaker but it still contributes to the overall image of the organization to players coming in Talking about the past and other times where a similar situation may be compared is fine, but none of those times before could we have been considered amongst or actually "the best" in the league as we perhaps are now. I'm sure people will take that right away and say omggg wtf..wingss duhh, of which yes they are a very well run organization amongst many others in the league, but as a complete package at this point in time you would be kidding yourself to say that Vancouver is not an attractive/desirable place to play as well as Live Imagine if Luongo signs long term, complaints of weather and climate of which "he wants out" speculation arose seems to have changed when he decides that this is where he wants to live and play for perhaps the rest of his career other players notice things like this as well. |

that doesnt look too comfortable |
