^ exactly, Jah saying you would be happy with 8 instead of 12 is irrelevant because he probably will only make it to 8-9 anyways lol

even if he did stick around for 10-12, we could have him sit in as backup and mentor a new prospect, but im sure he'd only be down with that if he had a few cups under his belt lol

woob 09-02-2009 03:07 PM

but then he'd be a backup with a cap hit of 5.3 million.

I'm actually totally satisfided with this contract; just thought I'd point that out :)

silk 09-02-2009 03:07 PM

i feel bad for Lu if canucks didnt win a cup in the next 12 years

Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed left wing Taylor Pyatt to a one-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

winson604 09-02-2009 03:09 PM

Up next lets resign Kesler!

Glad we have a top goalie signed long term, top 2 forwards signed to pretty long term contracts, Burr signed pretty long term, now lets get Kes signed. That would be a fairly good 5 key players being around long term.

In addition pretty stoked that we actually have some promising looking prospects coming too. Fuck I can't wait!

Chairman Kaga 09-02-2009 03:15 PM

Taken from his interview on Team 1040 around 3:30pm

- Luongo is happy it's done before training camp and looking forward to starting the season

- He feels that the team is going forward towards winning and Mike Gillis has shown him that the Stanley Cup is the club's goal

- Early June, Luongo told Gillis that he was willing to commit long-term, and then all the negotiation was between Gillis and Luongo's agent

- The 12 year term only came into talks last week

- Luongo says he never wanted to leave, he loves the city and the team and always wanted to stay

- Luongo doesn't think there's going to be any extra pressure because he's already the captain of a Canadian hockey team so the pressure is already at max level

- Likes playing in a Canadian city because of the love for the game

- Thinks it's unfair that most people (like a lot of people here on CDC) are judging him by that last game vs. Chicago

- Gillis told Luongo that he wanted to sign the Sedins so Luongo committed to the Canucks even before they were officially signed

- Luongo says the Stanley Cup is more important than winning Gold in the Olympics

- Luongo really liked the team last year and he thinks they will be even better this year, especially with the GM and owners genuinely wanting to win

- Joke about renaming GM Place "Roberto Luongo Place"

Hondaracer 09-02-2009 03:32 PM

lol @ roberto luongo place, maybe when he brings us a cup :D

This IMO is one of the biggest injustices in the franchise. For the amount of slagging Canuck fans like to do to the Aquilinis, I actually like the direction the new owners had implemented with the franchise; from changes to GM place and the club itself, and it's organizational philosophy.

It's so fine to see an owner who seems to have a personal quest to bring a cup to his city. Whether he's a hockey pundit or not.

I think the biggest flack Aquaman got was when he fired Nonis because he didn't sell the farm for Richards.

Nonis sticking to his plan actually helped this franchise. He lost his job but can you imagine how different this team would be right now if he made the trade? No Kesler, no 1st rounder (I think it would have been Hodgson's pick) and Luongo possibly not re-signing

Blah_Teggie 09-02-2009 04:51 PM

There goes the chances of Kesler being named Captain of this team for a long long time!

Harvey Specter 09-02-2009 05:07 PM

Who's taking Ohlunds "A"?

Hondaracer 09-02-2009 05:53 PM

Burr?

punkwax 09-02-2009 06:13 PM

^ I dont think so.. Burrow's isn't the type of personality you give a letter to. Not right now anyway.

hotjoint 09-02-2009 06:29 PM

:lol @ pyatt signing

I know he's new to the team but I thinking giving it to Mathieu Schneider would be a good idea..

rb 09-02-2009 06:49 PM

The Phoenix GM probably looked in Pyatt's eyes and was so mesmerized that he just had to sign him... :p

Not really racist! 09-02-2009 08:34 PM

damn! i was so happy when i heard this on the radio in my car this morning.

good to know lu is signed... now we can wait for a trade!!

im lookin forward to a great season!

JesseBlue 09-02-2009 08:46 PM

lets get the season going...!!!

CRS 09-02-2009 09:15 PM

Next A is going to either Bieksa, Sedins or Burrows.

If it is the Sedins, it will alternate between say home and away games or every other.

silk 09-02-2009 09:16 PM

all the chicks will be disapear as pyatt leaving us ...........
phoneix probabaly signed him to up the ticket sales

cressydrift 09-02-2009 09:51 PM

Yea! Cant wait to see Andrew Raycroft be the number one goalie in Vancouver with a 12 yr 64 million dollar injured goalie.
