AHAHAHA The ELECTRIC ice resurfacing machines they were using to "preserve the carbon neutral goal" kept breaking down, so they're AIRLIFTING a Zamboni from Calgary to use at the Richmond oval tomorrow. Shows you how impractical some of these "Green" initiatives are... But it makes you think, don't they have any Zamboni's somewhere in vancouver they could use instead of airlifting one from Calgary? |

No shit, eh? There are probably 5+ perfectly good Zamboni's within 10km of the oval track. Just slap some vinyl graphics on one of them and get the show on the road already!!! |

Just got back from Henekein House. Got there at 8:30pm and got in at 9:20pm. They shut down the line completely 10 mins into my lineup. I think there was too much hype from what i've read which raised my expectations. With that said, I still had a blast and it was really fun but it wasn't as mind blowing as some said. Looks like they opened the line back up some time after I got in though. |
^really? i'm prob gonna go there tommorow. |
fuck irish house is pretty fucking bumping full of hotties got hammered there then went skating at robson square lol |
does it bother anyone else that French was always announced FIRST then English during the ceremonies? |
I've got a rant with the international media just saw on global how the games and mainly the opening ceremonies are being criticized worldwide for not being as "glamorous" as Beijing, but everyone seems to be forgetting that China spent ~$300million vs ~$30million on the opening ceremonies. And Beijing had their own "custom" stadium while we had an old covered stadium that is smaller so there's only so much that can be done within the confines of the stadium. |

^you get a thanks cuz that made me giggle. I don't have a problem with them announcing things in french first, I just wish I had paid attention in class long enough to actually LEARN some of it. |

on a side note. does anyone know where you can watch the events online? i found watchvancouverolympics.com but it has one of those endless fuking surveys you must do before you get to watch that you give you shitloads of your info and not actually get to watch anything. |

Americans are dumb, i bet you thats not what their athletes think anyways. Let NBC fuck shit up, let the stereotypical american believe the propaganda US media outlets are saying towards Canada. Mediums in the US write shit like this cuz it sells, and thats what the media does, shove negativity down people's throat cuz it sells HARD We as Canadians do our part hosting the olympics and provide hospitality to the world just like any other city would. but as for the transportation For fuck sakes, this is the WINTER olympics, SKING and such occurs on MOUNTAINS in which most venues around the globe have ONE road up the mountain and is NOT designed to have a load for a big event. |

really?? wtf Summer Olympic openings are always bigger budget and more glamorous than Winter.... they should be comparing us with Torino i think we used the money for our opening more effectively.. it rocked for the budget |

And quite honestly the disses about Canada and Vancouver are getting old and just feed into the stereotype the world has about the US. Not all Americans are stupid, bitter, ignorant and insecure but most are. I'm just glad the IOC gave the US a nice big FUCK YOU when they eliminated Chicago in the first ballot of voting for the 2016 games. |
FUCK MAN I just went to a bar downtown and felt real bad for a group of Germans I just met. The bar closed down at 2AM and they were all WTF saying bars in Germany are open til 6AM so you can go home when their transit system opens again in the morning. All I could say was "sorry that's Vancouver for you". :( |

Anyways.. hit up LiveCity Yaletown today. Did the FIR concert on Sunday as well. No lineup to the Heineken House as my buddy and I went at 6pm, when all coupled/Chinese people were too busy eating dinner. :D Anyone else pick up that glowing Coke bottle? That thing is awesome. :D Other than that and the Panasonic 3D HDTV bit, there isn't too much there. Samsung was showing off these computer WiMax dongles the guy said won't even be released here (they're being shown to European guests), and Acer was basically a computer store. The GreenCentral (sp?) houses were a waste of time. Digital controls are nothing new, including the touchscreen stuff. Only thing stopping people from installing it is the cost. |
