He was born in Canada lived in North Van, he wanted to start some sort of internet business and the goverment or something like that would not let him so he moved to Aus to start it. He's now has millions in the bank and flys Aus's flag since hes mad at the goverment.

I think thats most of it, i'm sure i'm wrong on a couple parts.

Dale Begg Smith left canada so he could keep running his adware/spyware business.

I think because all of the other events scheduled for today is over. Figure skating was the only one event left. You can check out www.vancouver2010.com There is a little box on the top right corner where they tell you what is live, as well as tomorrow's schedule.

OK, but isn't it normal for the IOC to ask all nations to submit their official renditions? I always thought it was the country's choice and not the IOC's. Can someone confirm this? Wife and I are having differences of opinion.

If I recall correctly, the VSO wanted nothing to do with the Olympics. I don't recall the debacle surrounding it and whether or not they reached a solution, but the last I heard, VSO stepped away from anything to do with all of this.

One thing I found interesting though is that during the opening ceremonies, during one of the performances, they played Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings. This piece was made famous by the movie "Platoon" however, an interesting tidbit was that the original piece was performed by the VSO but not credited as such in the film's credits to avoid political bouts. The piece played during the opening ceremony was definitely NOT the original recorded piece by the VSO, having heard and studied the original thousands of times (with Victor Guy @ Britannia.) :D

Edit: Full story - VSO Objects to Replacement

I was wrong. Only SOME members were recruited and not the original VSO.

I'm just glad it's all in our time zone.

Kind of....... I get home early enough from work to watch most of it.

The version Victor pulled out all the time (at least back then) was the Bray version. Not that common these days, but I like it. Very robust arrangement. It's the one that's so tiny you had to squint to read the notes, right?

He wanted to come here and alap Canada in the face, but instead ended up being fucked over at Canada's biggest moment in its Olympic sports history.

Karma at its best.

Every time they show Canada's first Olympic gold on home turf, his face is going to be right there - in second place. :haha::haha::haha::haha::haha::haha::haha:

Go, Canada, GO!!!!!!!!
