I'm not sure if this is Rogers or Torch problem. My phone is having problem intermittently since last Tuesday 10/19. The reception is full on 3G but when I try making a phone call, it says "no circuit/channel available" or "call failed" and the call just can't go through. The phone couldn't get any incoming call as well but I got sms from who called so I know who called and didn't leave voicemail. I called Rogers on landline telling them the problem and got a call back on Friday saying there was some tower problem and is now fixed. My phone was working fine from last Friday until this afternoon. The "no circuit/channel available" and "call failed" messages returned when I tried to make some phone calls as well as getting the who called sms stating the calls that I couldn't answer. I called Rogers again and reported the problem and they said they are going to look into it. This problem is only on 3G and 2G is just working fine. I am running on 2G now but not happy with the slow data speed. Also, the problem is only on 3G phone calls while sms and data are working fine. Any thought?

I've used the 9000 and 9700 in the past and the Torch is by far the best BB I've ever had. Nearly every aspect of it is significantly better than previous BBs. The only issues I really have with it are that it may be a bit laggy at times and the battery life is nowhere near as good as the 9700.

finally. ya ive use both the 9000 and the 9700 as well. i personally think that if the 9000 had the 9780s processor and ram, it would be quite possibly the best phone ever, i really love that format. there are some beta OS updates available for the torch that smooth the software out and pretty much take away all the lag.

I was a BIG 9700 fan but I'm starting to love this phone had it for 3 days now. I thought about going back to my 9700 with OS6 or 9780 but I don't want to go back to the small screen again. The browser is better but I love the data integration the most. I just wish it didn't look so bulky with the otterbox commuter case on.

initial launch for 9780 was mid November but I have heard it has been pushed back another week or so, possibly end of November and with only black being the only colour available at launch.

when I receive calls it shows the registered owners name instead of what I have saved in my contacts.

Went from galaxy s to iphone to nexus one to torch, liking it so far. Efficient and gets things done.

anyone who has the ottorbox case.. do you find that it fucks with your phone.. causing it to not respond to any buttons you press?

Vansterdam 01-30-2011 08:02 AM

bump old thread

anyone here try replacing full housing ? or just the bezel part?

is it easy? all the guides i read told me not to do it unless my screen is broken or something cause its on there tight

also whats the newest OS available? how does it run?

illicitstylz 01-30-2011 08:20 AM

everyone on CB, even the guys who have done bezel/housing replacements on older models (including me), tend to stay away from doing it on the 9800 based on its difficulty. i'd agree with not replacing it unless absolutely necessary.

newest os is 6.0.0.450 (leaked unofficial)

6.0.0.448 (leaked unofficial) running great on my torch the last 3 days
