Played around with it for a bit down in Bellingham. I liked it. Not sure why people are complaining that it's heavy, to me was about the same weight as my Iphone 3g. Browser seemed to work well, loaded up pages pretty quickly. Didn't have any issues with typing on it either.

Went to the AT & T on Meridian, in the same complex as Costco.

The slider was smooth to, wasn't loose like some people mentioned.

Yeah they got it displayed on the left side of the store. Still haven't decided if I wanna stay with Fido and get it from AT&T or wait till Rogers gets it. Kinda curious what price Rogers is gonna have it at.

Wait for Rogers to get it.

This is what i received. Heavy BB in my opinion, Definitely not meant for "my" daily use. I shall stick with 9700 till 9780 is released. Not sure if I'm ready to move from 5.0 to 6.0 OS yet. It seems like going from XP to Vista + the browser upgrade. Keyboard is all recessed.

JSilver 08-19-2010 09:26 AM

Anyone know when Rogers will be releasing the 9800?

Alpine50 08-19-2010 02:30 PM

Crackberry forum days Rogers is sept 14,15,16 along with telus 2 days later.
I love it when you go into a store and you know more information on a product comming out then the employee like I could understand not knowing about specs but at least no what the fuckin phone is, this chick had no idea what I was talking about. Like I could kind if understand because the phones not released in Canada yet but like even other people with different phones are like oh we carry that? Oh this is the new one? Wow........
Sorry about the rant

I've heard stories of going into a BMW dealership and asking about current models and the sales person didn't know what the person was talking about because they refered to the car as E90 or E46 instead of 5XX or 3XX.

That being said, a lot of the info right now is speculative and if the carrier hasn't issued any internal memo, then how are the sales rep supposed to know? If wouldn't be in their best interest to sell or make promises on things that may or may not be available.

Imagine a sales rep promised you a white Iphone 4 because he/she read about it on the internet and now it turns out the white one isn't available yet. How would you feel?

Alpine50 08-19-2010 02:56 PM

Yea I understand the whole code name thing so that makes sense like when I was there I said 9800 but he said torch.

But if I walk over to like another Rogers or even call them they've told me they've been told the device is conning onto Rogers already. They just don't know when exactly, all I wanted to know was if I could put my name down for when it does come let me know. But she knew nothing had know idea blackbery made a new phone even though Roger said it's already on th way? That's what I don't understand

screen resolution and the same old processor is honestly a let down ... can the guys who played with it do a web surfing comparison against iphone 4?

It isn't an iPhone man, 9800 doesn't get as much press. Some people work in the cell phone stores for $$$ while others are enthusiastic about it. You probably just talked with the girl whos in it for the $ only.

i guess......... figured that they'd get a heads up about a new device comming out. guess not...... my bad

Graeme S 08-19-2010 09:25 PM

I went to Telus the week before the Desire came out. One of the three stores seemed to know what I was talking about.

The other two were like "What brand was it? Is that a Samsung or an LG?"

If companies don't announce stuff to staff, 99% of times, they don't know it. To give you an analagous statement, when I worked for starbucks, I didn't pay attention to the starbucks rumor sheets; when stuff came out it came out. Does that make me a bad barista? No, it just makes me one who only knows what the company tells me.

Give 'em a break.

Alpine50 08-19-2010 09:57 PM

I said my bad I never yelled at her, I was just pissed of earlier and ranting.

edit: I really need to stop believing everything I read, this person said on crackberry that some places don't find out anything about a phone until 1 or 2 days before but i wonder why some places know all this info and release stuff while other have no idea...... Oh well

Jegz 08-20-2010 07:42 PM

Yay jst got it!! Slider seems pretty sturdy :)

Maybe some places have real phone enthusiasts who keep up to date with the latest and greatest technologies so they know more than someone just trying to make ends meet working their job.

Did you go down to the AT&T in Bellingham to get it? I agree, the model they had out there was pretty sturdy to me.

who are you liking it? Any lag? Is the keyboard ok, heard the keys are too soft or something or go in too deep? Is there lag within the browser?

I went to cellworldco on kingsway. Havent tried it yet. Gonna get my data plan tmr asap and ill post more info after

Jegz 08-22-2010 03:41 PM

So after 2 days of using this phone, Im pretty content with it. There is no lag while browsing through the phone. The keyboard is fine nothing wrong with it. Only problems for me is the battery life .. Went from 100% to 35% in 6-7 hours with moderate use of a few calls, bbm, internet and games. Is that normal? lol

avinayyar 08-22-2010 03:45 PM

I find the keyboard very recessed for my typing needs. i guess i type too much.

Battery seems to last whole day.
