Would you mind sharing how much it cost? And is this NAPA Canada or USA?

I managed to order Mobil 1 5W50 (I know, not the same oil) on sale once from NAPA USA, and even with exchange and time/effort going to Niagara Falls,NY to pick it up, it was still a huge savings compared to local prices. It was either impossible to get or you buy Porsche's 5W50. No way!

Pretty interesting interaction with a client just now.

Mom and her kids came in and one of her girls brought her boyfriend with her (16 yrs old) and the mom was talking about how this new generation doesn't greet their elders at all.

So I asked what does the boyfriend say to you when he see's you? She said he just says, "Hi"

She's Chinese, boyfriend is Chinese, but apparently saying, "Hello Aunty" or "Hello Mrs. Wong" just isn't a thing for this generation.

The mom said it's a little weird, but she doesn't think it's a huge deal, but her husband hates it. I guess kids these days are brought up a different way.

I have two young boys and they have always been taught to say hello aunty or hello uncle. Kind of weird this generation doesn't do that.

my buddy's kids that ive known since they were 5 and 7 still calls me M___哥哥, they are now 16 and 18. i love it!

on the other hand...

i was at dim sum with my parents awhile back and we bumped into one of my mom's friend and her family. her son has to be in his late 20s if not 30s, totally gives me 裙腳仔 (mama's boy) vibes. his mom tells him to 叫人 (say hi) and he calls me 哥哥 and i was like da fuck u call me :rukidding:

13.36$ as currently listed by napa canada. If im not mistaken a 5L was 50-60$/ea normally.

Track days coming up, need the oil, corvette gHeezers also state i can run 10w40

Unlike your case, buying from USA shows no savings.
If i go down to walmart USA i may guangdong the back of my car with 5L jugs

Longest day of the year and my AC is off, it's raining, and I had to put a sweater on in the Kelowna / Vernon area.

bcrdukes 06-21-2025 07:29 AM

I was thinking of Guangdong hoarding the Mobil 1 5W50 but decided against it as 5W40 was plentiful and regularly on sale. I got curious about 5W50 as Porsche issued a technical bulletin for "Classic" cars, and will change over to it in July for the summer track season.

Badhobz 06-21-2025 08:42 AM

Guangdong hoarder !!!!

yray 06-21-2025 11:15 AM

5w50 ... might as well use baby oil

westopher 06-21-2025 11:23 AM

Lordco is the fucking worst. Double the price of anywhere else, absolute fuckheads that work there as well.

In general, yeah, but the Lordcos I go to have really good people working there. I needed a bunch of miscellaneous parts that I only needed like 1-2 of, and the Lordco by my house just gave me them all, free, because I've been a good customer for fluids, air fresheners, and gasket sealant and such...

I'll never forget when RockAuto had my minivan's brake pads for $10 and the best deal Lordco had was $180.

westopher 06-21-2025 12:52 PM

There’s one good dude at the lordco right by my house, and a nice woman as a cashier but the other parts guys are such assholes.

Traum 06-21-2025 01:10 PM

If you're buying from Lordco, please tell me you are at least using some sort of account with discounts? Lordco's "normal" price is ridiculous, but when you use one of their accounts, prices could range from anywhere between less ridiculous to 1/2 decent.

Come to think of it, didn't RS has one of those?

westopher 06-21-2025 01:23 PM

I certainly don’t have one or access to one. There was a bmwccbc one but doesn’t exist anymore. Pretty sure lordco cracked down on all of that and just exists to fuck people.

To be fair to you both, the ethics of "Buy In Canada" or Buy Canadian, did cross my mind, and I also feared being detained by US CBP. Let's just say my background and history is...cloudy.

It doesn't seem to have the same amount of "crumbs" outside to be Costco's. And TBH, Costco fries is one of my favorites among all fast food fries. So, your statement would actually be a compliment IMHO.

spoon.ek9 06-21-2025 04:01 PM

haven't had church's in ages. hope you got the spicy (as you should).

68style 06-21-2025 04:28 PM

Fuck that half the reason for going there was crinkle fries!!!!

I leave that place for 9 months and everything goes to shit

bcrdukes 06-21-2025 04:42 PM

It's solid and I went there often when I worked in the area. Don't let the name sway you from trying it out.
