Cambodians, Lao, and Nammers - Never mess with them.

BC ferries playing games. Booking online got 3 different prices for the same trip.
First it was $49 each way with faresaver. Decided to actually make an account. logged back in, return had shot up to $105. Tried a bunch of things same price. Tried booking separately got $49 to Tsawwassen and return for $39. This was all within 30 minutes.

Looking at a set of truck rims in Nanaimo..

Is there any service I could use that would save me money VS taking the ferry to go buy them?

Basically going to cost me $250 in ferries to go buy $1400 rims..

bcrdukes 07-10-2025 10:34 AM

What you could try doing instead is parking your car at the ferry terminal, walk on to the ferry and meet the guy on the other side?

whitev70r 07-10-2025 10:39 AM

^ what? How would that work? If you buy them, would you roll the four rims onto the ferry and then roll them off the ferry and into your car parked at the terminal?

Do what you gotta do, man.

Bring a cart. Ask someone to help? Make new friends? (Something that Hondaracer is good at.)

C'mon, whitev70r! Think outside the box and be more crafty! You're better than this! :moderatorban:

whitev70r 07-10-2025 10:47 AM

I could be wrong and racist but I don't see Honda bringing a ghetto cart/Costco wagon to do this deal. Let's see how he responds to your idea.

Ah' excuse me sir, could you give me a hand with these 4 rims that I just bought, could you carry 2?

bcrdukes 07-10-2025 10:49 AM

I think you're right. I don't think he likes homelessness, which according to him, Nanaimo is rampant with homeless people.

Terrible suggestion on my part. Back to the drawing board.

Use a wheel dolly, it’s still super alloying to do.

If u can pay the seller a little more to deliver it to Victoria. I’ll be in town bc day long weekend (aug 1-4) and I can meet u somewhere.

whitev70r 07-10-2025 10:59 AM

ah, now there's a solution, find a friend on the island who is coming over. Buy them a 6 pack! Or slip them a red bill, $50!

bcrdukes 07-10-2025 11:04 AM

Or take them out for Asian Dragon Buffet. Ignore the weight loss thread.

Honestly I was considering it because it would save me like $200

However, these are big 275/65/20 and heavy

Dont think the cost savings will be worth it.

Just unfortunate, if the guy dropped his price I’d probably just drive but I don’t REALLY need them lol

try Uship

What size are the rims?

Badhobz 07-10-2025 11:20 AM

why dont you go to the island for a vacation and grab the wheels while youre at it.

Hondaracer 07-10-2025 11:30 AM

Yea was thinking about it

$1400 rims turn into a $3500 weekend then though lol

Badhobz 07-10-2025 11:34 AM

thats okay. you deserve a nice vacation and the weather is perfect.

68style 07-10-2025 11:36 AM

Negotiate with manic through your common friend… you can be Trump and he can be Carney

bcrdukes 07-10-2025 11:39 AM

What if Manic pulls a role reversal and imposes a tariff on Hondaracer?

Didn't think $200 would be that big of a deal for a high roller like you. :lol

Same same, lah.

whitev70r 07-10-2025 11:44 AM

RS so active today and it's just like noon ... looks like no one is seriously working.

mikemhg 07-10-2025 11:47 AM

We all WFH apparently.

That's the wrong way to think about it.

It's the savings on the rims paying for your vacation!

It’s one of those things I’ll go blow $200 on beer on a random Thursday but I’ll think about the ferry trip for 3 weeks until I ultimately back out lol..

It’s also like the cumulative trip, resos are booked every Sunday for the foreseeable future
