Funny business will happen after the bank when you go to the autoplan for the title transfer and they say you can't do the transfer for whatever reason but the money is already transferred :ilied:

anyone else fighting off a Temu addiction? I only recently started using the app. Been keeping tabs on my spending vs free shit I'm getting. I've kept it pretty under control so far.

Spent $170, got $200 in credits. My plan is to max out all the freebies and then stop using the app entirely as it's annoying AF with multiple daily notifications trying to get you to spend nonstop. I can see how people with less discipline could easily get hooked on this app and continuously buy shit they don't need because it seems like a good deal.

I report all those ads, as spam every time i see them on any platform

Its the ebay of 2010 but scammy with their "free" trash

Dats how they get you !!!! Aliexpress quality is still better. Lawl. Yes I’m serious.

spoon.ek9 07-05-2025 05:11 PM

To be fair, majority of the shit on Amazon is from China to begin with and often times with huge markups so that "businesses" can profit off of it (see Americans).

I'm pretty happy with what I've bought so far. In particular, a picked up a cordless polisher (adjustable speed) for $50. It includes 10 pads, 2 micro fiber cloths, sanding pads, 2 batteries, an apron (not sure why I'd need this) and a carrying case. As long as this thing lasts a few years it's a solid purchase.

o fuck ya, taobao is like bougie shit... if you bought taobao car parts, youre like basically a porsche douchebag.

SkinnyPupp 07-05-2025 05:27 PM

Taobao is cool because you can get the cheapest stuff possible, or the best quality available, and everything in between. It's all about deciding when it's worth to go up in quality. If you want to do that, it's most likely there. And still a million times cheaper than buying on Amazon or whatever LUL

And everything on aliexpress is on taobao (I think it's the same company?) but 1/2 or 2/3 the price

Badhobz 07-05-2025 05:32 PM

i had another weird experience today where i was getting shawarma and these arab girls with headscarves came up to me and ask if they can take pictures of the car.

What's with arab girls and this ratrolla? Did Toyota fund their local jihads or something?

I've bought clothes and shoes, but they were no good in terms of quality. Returned them all.

I wouldn't mind paying more for better quality clothes and shoes, but I don't know how to tell.

At least their return process is super easy.

I got this electric mousetrap on Amazon:

Thing is the final solution for rodents. Completely destroyed the local mice population. I kind of miss hearing them skitter then leap at night.

I haven't checked out taobao yet, back in the day I used dealextreme a bunch and now AliExpress. I've never looked at Temu, all their ads made them look like it'd be overpriced junk like Amazon.

bcrdukes 07-06-2025 05:22 AM

Is it even possible to order from TaoBao without living in China/HK/Macau?

For some one off shit like costumes it's fine. You'll never wear it again and it beats going to those halloween costume stores to pay $80 for basically the same shit quality.

spoon.ek9 07-06-2025 12:31 PM

That's not a bad idea for halloween costumes actually..

I did buy a backpack which isn't great quality, might be my first return lol.

6793026 07-07-2025 07:50 AM

i never ever ever buy shoes. You can have ripped seams, but you can't have your air max bottom / soles fly out. I was poor once LOL. I stil see girls with 6 inch platform falling off.

backpacks are hit and a miss, the biggest thing are zippers which are definitely not YKK.

Weekend trips are fine but when i'm going on a euro trip, i ain't cheaping out on backpacks.

i dont even like to buy shoes online that are from known brands. i have to try shoes on every time before i buy. my feet are weird that way.

The ocean on the west coast sure is a bizarre colour this year:

Looks like you’re in cancun lol

I wish it was just as warm, not the 10 degrees that it actually is right now

The trick is to order multiple sizes, return the ones that don't fit. Shipping is free anyways.

You near Squamish there?

The ocean colors tend to look like that when you're near a glacier river feeding into the ocean itself.

I love boating out into that area for a good swim, definitely cold though.

Great68 07-07-2025 09:33 AM

In Bamfield/Barkley sound. Apparently it's a type of phytoplankton that's in bloom which causes the color.
