I think in the past when summers weren't so crazy, it was more or less acceptable. It's becoming tougher these days though I find. This reminds me, I need to buy one of those neck fans from Amazon... worth a shot.

Not sure if anyone else has seen this History of BC youtube channel, I've been getting my nostalgia fix from here lately. Some good videos, one on the history of Westwood showed up:

Such a shame we don't have anything like that anymore.

The no AC bit might worse in the Miata as you either put the top down and get broiled, or you get baked with the black vinyl top.

The new owner of the car had put on a tan top since and I'd think it would be better.

Yea they ran stock cars up at Westwood Plateau, I think it was up until the early 80s. You can still find bits of the old track and some of the street names are named after the track.

True, I guess the roof of my civics saves me a little bit. I definitely don't open up the sunroof when it's boiling outside.

That's crazy! Even my 2000 Honda Civic DX (with manual roll up windows) has AC.

spoon.ek9 05-27-2025 01:26 PM

I'm not sure my EK ever had AC even before my ownership. The EF, I would consider adding it but the car is already lacking in power and finding the parts is the biggest issue. Would be nice though lol.

My purple '96 Civic CX didn't have AC, power steering, and was manual with a cable clutch. Those were the days... FeelsGoodMan

spoon.ek9 05-28-2025 06:13 AM

Amethyst purple! That was a nice one. Always loved that and Midori green

68style 05-28-2025 06:28 AM

Midori is by far the best civic hatch colour going from the EK era, definitely one of those didn’t think so at the time colours but now it’s the perfect 90’s jdm colour

spoon.ek9 05-28-2025 06:46 AM

Yeah, as a teenager it didn't give me any vibes but nowadays you recognize how damn rare it was. I just saw one in a parking lot maybe a month ago and snapped a pic even though it was in rough condition. Other than Champ White, those are probably top 2.

EvoFire 05-28-2025 09:04 AM

If you are building a quick North American EK hatch, Midori Green and whatever that Purple is called is definitely good. Same if you go EM1 you need to get it in Electric Blue or whatever it was called.

Now if you want a full all out build. I want mine in Phoenix Yellow.

spoon.ek9 05-28-2025 01:44 PM

Dark Amethyst Purple, Electron Blue Pearl, Midori Green

whitev70r 05-28-2025 04:11 PM

damn ... serious forest fires already in Manitoba, Sask, and AB with evacuation orders in Flin Flon, MB. Manitoba declared state of emergency.

Traum 05-29-2025 10:21 AM

I know the wildfire situation is really bad in Manitoba right now. For BC and AB though, it seems like this year has been a lot milder than the last few years.

I hope things wouldn't go too much out of hand this summer (wildfire season).

Badhobz 05-29-2025 10:24 AM

DONT FRIGGIN JINX IT!!!

If the wild fires get my railroad mainline, ill have to actually do some work and figure out a solution for all this cargo.

spoon.ek9 05-29-2025 11:44 AM

this is why I haven't complained at all about the recent rain. we need it!

bcrdukes 05-29-2025 11:51 AM

plz no more forest fires

Traum 05-29-2025 12:48 PM

Apparently this is the fire risk profile across Canada today:

https://scontent.fyvr3-1.fna.fbcdn.n...cg&oe=683E8F45

Pretty insane, if you ask me...

spoon.ek9 05-29-2025 01:02 PM

Wow, I'm surprised we're in the low/moderate risk level in BC for once.

just close some more berths for "maintenance"

whitev70r 05-29-2025 01:23 PM

Sask now has declared a state of emergency!

Gerbs 05-29-2025 02:44 PM

Girlfriend is looking to buy a car in the $25-30K range, told it's dumb if you don't have the $$$ and also don't care about driving.

Her options are $5-10K Beater, maybe a Honda fit, but the used market is garbage still. Alternatively the $22-24K 2023-2024 elantras seem okay too.

What are y'all thoughts on what's a good depreciating car to commute to work/leisure.

The days of spending $5-10K on a cheap, reliable, beater with under 150,000km are gonezo. You do a few repairs and that $3-5K in maintenance + tires + brakes easily justifies the cost of a new one.

Badhobz 05-29-2025 03:28 PM

Nissan kicks seems to be a popular choice. We should get all the wives a bunch of kicks. In the ass.

Traum 05-29-2025 03:58 PM

Polestar just happens to be doing a $0 down, $399/month, 12-month leases on their Polestar 2 dual motors right now:

https://forums.redflagdeals.com/pole...000km-2763529/

Basically $5k for 12 months' worth of 420hp.
