Ya'll a sly bunch of mfkers, and I'm here for it. |
Where are you guys ordering parts from these days? I need some Aisin stuff for my wifes Rav (I wanna keep it OE) but I'm not finding any Canadian places that have it. WPT803, THT019 and THP101 if it matters. |
Anyone have restaurant recommendations for the Amalfi Coast and Sicily? |
Positano and Amalfi were largely tourist traps because all the good restaurants are out of the tourist parts up in the hills Sorrento has a lot of great spots and way more reasonably priced |

Crappy part is RockAuto, you gotta deal with shipping and taxes/duty or whatever, so it's one of those, "while you're here" you get what you need in one go. You might be surprised at Toyota dealership prices, so give it a go too. Surprisingly, if you need some of this stuff locally, NAPA has and there's 20% off, but some parts are cheaper on the other sites. If you know someone who has an account with them, it could possibly be cheaper. Shop around and do what works best for you. |

Last time I called the dealer here they wanted 3x the list price for something so I don't even bother with them any more. |

Props to the elderly standing up for his wife. |
The move is to stay in sorrento and take the tour ships that go up and down the coast. You can spend the entire day in whatever town you want then get back on the last boat and go back to sorrento. Otherwise yea, we rented a private van with a few strangers and the guy still dropped us off at the very top of the towns because it would take 45 more minutes to drive down in November.. |
We stayed in Positano in 2018. You don't get these kind of views in Sorrento: https://imgur.com/V8ufWyl.jpg Town though is basically an American colony as Honda says, so rarely anything is authentic. It was expensive back then. I just checked now and it's stupidly expensive because of the f*#@ing Americans bidding everything up. Are you going to Capri as well? There's a cool restaurant where you can eat in the Lemon Groves just google "Lemon restaurant Capri". That's all I can remember/recommend. Go to Naples and eat pizza if you want authentic. |
Yea it’s one thing to wake up to those views for sure but you can also get really nice water front hotels on sorrento. Also staying in Sorrento makes visiting Capri much easier. If you’re there you kinda gotta go to Capri |

We're staying in Sorrento for three days. 1 day to see Pompei and Herculaneum, 1 day to see Sorrento and 1 day in Positano. We're then staying in Minori for two days. 1 day to check out Amalfi and one to check out Minori and Maiori. Our stay on the coast is short. It's basically four days only since Pompei and Herculaneum doesn't really count. ----- On a side note, RBC Avion has a 30% bonus conversion to British Airways Avios. I thought about converting my Avion points over, but I'm reading about how that might not be the best option if I want to fly Cathay and JAL. Cathay apparently holds award flights from partners, while JAL award flights don't tend to show up on the Avios portal. Anyone have some insight? |
For cathay, yes business class is pretty much only available on asiamiles For Jal, kinda crapshoot, AA miles then avios? But BA avios can get you Qatar Q-suites out of seattle but if you’re going to asia its the long way around |

This is hilarious. When I cross shop for parts between Wrench Monkey and Parts Avatar, one will have a part I'm looking for, while the other won't for something else. I'm thinking they both have very different suppliers. RockAuto is really hard to beat. Just that it sucks when you get the wrong part and returning it is a bother. Re: Dealer and Napa - I've been lucky a few times with both. Strange how the water pump is $187 at my location from NAPA. My luck with Lordco (back in the day any way) was always hit and miss. |
Nothing beats RockAuto... parts for 1984-1994 Chrysler K-cars are basically free. Brake pads for my 1993 Voyager at Lordco were $180... RockAuto had the pads for $10, shipping was more expensive... Needed to replace one of my belts, Lordco wanted like $40 if I remember correctly, same belt on RockAuto is $4. |
Damn ... Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed in India on takeoff, so far over 200 dead, appears that no survivor from crash. Obviously, a bit too early to tell what the cause problem was but not looking good for Boeing. https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/india-...rash-1.7559094 |
