Sid Vicious 01-14-2014 11:42 PM

that knee crunch sound when u were in the hole made me cringe a bit because i can relate

actually, by really focusing on pushing my butt back and forcing all the weight on my heels ive been able to get more glute + hamstring involvement. also no more dive bombing my descents, i like em nice and controlled now

but yea if anyone is looking to get into bulgarian style training...lemme know i think i got a handle on it now

Bulgarian lifting is pretty much just lift your max weight, and then do it again and again and again and again? :p and try not to get thrown into the salt mines

Zhang Jie and Lu Changliang Back Squat - YouTube

sorry bro that looks completely vertical to me haha. but I see what you mean. they're keeping their pelvis rotated forward so they can get a better hip/glute drive for an ATG squat

just wondering, but have you ever considered doing oly lifting? it seems like you're naturally built for it i swear

strong OHP, strong front squat, strong high bar squat, strong clean, super explosive... just a matter of putting it all together

hal0g0dv2 01-15-2014 07:47 PM

yeah that is some crazy strength sid

how are you liking the sleeves lol?

squatting and benching with oly shoes has totally revamped my playing field

+2 reps to my usual 5 rep max for bench. and squatting in them feels unreal

red_sir 01-15-2014 09:28 PM

Loving the sleeves. My knees are happy now.

What oly shoes did you get?

do-wins... i bite off the strong guys like urself

i heard good things about romaleos too, it's alot narrower and a tighter fit compared to do-wins apparently. but meh, i like more room when i squat. i don't actually tie it up tight so there's room for me to move my feet.

red_sir 01-15-2014 09:35 PM

Haha nice. Now gotta get hotong to get a pair.

I wear my shoes really loose too. For some reason they just hurt if they are even remotely tight.

Really? Are do wins really wide then because louie69 told me that the romaleos fit wider than the adipowers

if you need endurance to run a marathon/join the military run long distance

if you wanna get shredded...other exercises are way better

My goal is just to get generally healthy and make it a lifestyle choice where I can choose healthy as a force of habit. I feel like I need to get moving and I love running, I have alway loved it so it's what I do. Eventually, maybe once I get my breathing right and my cardio up I'll look at other workouts for weight loss and such. But running just makes me feel great.

In any case YGPM for advice.

How tight do you guys wear your belts when doing your main lifts?

Really tight for squats, loose for deadlifts. Bench doesnt really matter to me

hal0g0dv2 01-16-2014 06:24 AM

I only wear for squats and it's tight

haha, ive tried but i definitely need coaching...and haven't had the time to. thats why im focusing on powerlifting, i can get good gains by lifting by myself and just getting critique on videos, etc

and red_sir BEAST MODE ACTIVATED...500+ is in the bag soon for you

oh and btw my romaleos fit perfectly width wise and my feet are pretty wide. they are amazing shoes i feel rooted to the ground when i lift in em...and damn the color

Question regarding belt:

I'm starting the leangains routine. It includes squats and deads 3 x a week. I'm no stranger to them, but I've neglected them for the past year so I'm starting back at square one with lightish sets.

Never wore a belt before but last night I saw one lying around at my work gym so I gave it a shot. Felt pretty good with it.

Any con's in doing them in all your sets? Or should it be reserved for the heavier ones?

Like tight enough that you can't fit into the next notch?

I personally got the belt to help retain better abdominal pressure when lifting heavy weights (min. 80-85% 1rm). When i did my 1rm's I felt more stable during both eccentric and concentric of my lifts. i'm still new to "breathing into the belt" because i've always lifted with out one and I'm more familiar with breathing with out a belt.. You don't want rely on using the belt for all your sets because it reduces the amount of work your abs and lower back will use. Therefore, when you start lifting heavier weights, your body won't be able to take a heavier load. A lot of people generally use them for heavier sets and when they know their form is beginning to slip as they progress into later sets of the same exercise. But, as always, there's always those guys that do every single exercise/sets with the belt on... :P
