A couple years back he said it was his last year. He had good prices and made buying from him interesting to watch. I think it was $3 for 1 or $5 for 3.

They're not that great.. are they? I've never been arsed to try because the lines were always abnormally huge

They're alright. It's the novelty of eating one. It's just deep fried potato with seasoning.

These places must bank like no tomorrow. How much is a potato, 20 cents? :nyan:

Same with the roasted corn places..

Did anyone notice that new kernelled corn stand run by brown people? Looks disgusting..
Looks like they just steam frozen corn kernels and then add liquid/powder flavor :heckno:

Yea, whats with the hype in hurricane potato. Its not that good....

i-VTEC 05-29-2012 08:27 AM

hurricane potato was very popular when it first came out~ now, it isn't special, but there are still people lining up for them. I would still get it but it wouldn't be the first priority

Went there on Sunday with the fiancé. Parked at crappy tire and walked the distance. Thank god I didn't line up on no.3 rd. crazy backups!

The only thing that interested me was a shop selling hd dash cams for $50 and $70 lol

Also, you can usually talk down the price too. Just let people know. They already making crazy profit. For example, a regular ipod shuffle = 39.99 + tax, if a vendor sells a fake china brand one that looks exactly the same for 15, they are still making $10+ profit. I actually know a place in China that make those for about $3~$5 canadian. Cellphone cases as well, they making $5~$10 profit per

Anyone have comments on the $50 dash cam? Sounds like a basic affordable dash cam compared to the really nice $200 ones.

Didn't you know? LG's buy them, take pictures, and then post it on facebook.

instantneedles 05-29-2012 11:35 PM

honestly, besides food (and even this is debatable), none of the other stands at the night market were really worth the visit... I could go to ladies market at hk and get the same pieces of junk for 1/1000000000th the price. Yet, people still go and pay for it...

Perhaps this is a profitable opportunity for next year...

I didn't try. Looks like the split the $7 t&t lobsters minus the claw. Not a smart business though since you can't share and it's gone in 1 second.

iwantaskyline 06-02-2012 12:41 AM

I wish they had a japadog stand.

ntan 06-02-2012 07:55 PM

It seems like the River Rock location went up in price (according to friend's fb)... $1.50 for admission now

What?

Not that I mind the admission fee (it's really a stupid head tax)

+1 to the organizers though they are smart cause they'll easily clear 1MM visitors this year EASY

That's $1 - 1.5MM in incremental cash revenue

They are selling out though so can't question if it's a good business

$1.5 admission is unconfirmed unless true by poster above.

The annual attendance # is taking same comps of the IKEA night market for last few years (# is available on their website)

ntan 06-02-2012 11:19 PM

I hope my friend doesn't mind me using her pictures, but:
