yeah i wtf'd at the $1 admission fee at riverrock. i mean $1 is nothing but puts you in a bad mood right away.. the riverrock one is cleaner, wider and brighter than the bridgeport one for sure. its kind of like a maze though. nicer than the bridgeport one i would say. some of the food is noticeably more pricy than the bridgeport one. river rock one is more festive. but parking and lineups are retarded. i went at 1030 and traffic for cars was nuts

Over9K 05-19-2012 06:20 PM

RCubed 05-19-2012 10:32 PM

Was gonna check out the riverrock one, traffic started backing up from cambie.
I :fuckthatshit:'d and went to the bridgeport one.

Still as busy as it was last year. Maybe everyone else did the same thing when they saw the line up for riverrock.

spoon.ek9 05-19-2012 10:52 PM

I'm under the impression taking the canada line there is the way to go lol. I have a few places near a station that I can park at without a problem too :D

iTz_Curt 05-19-2012 11:03 PM

Holy Jesus, I went tonight and the food area was busy as hell. The hurricane potato stand had at least, and I shit you not over 100 people in line. The only thing I bought were the bubble waffle things and I ended up waiting an hour and 10-20 minutes for them. The stand I went to kept losing power. Overall I don't think I'd go again. Not much to buy besides cellphone cases.

Mr.HappySilp 05-19-2012 11:12 PM

^^ I would only go at like 11:30 so I can get cheap foods........

hchang 05-19-2012 11:23 PM

Went to the Riverrock one today, definitely a lot crowded than I thought itd be.

Parking wasn't a huge issue if you know your back roads around richmond.

Felt a lot cleaner as already mentioned and a lot more shops.

iTz_Curt 05-19-2012 11:28 PM

Oh yeah and I ended up parking in the abandoned lot on bridgeport and No.3 road where the Italian restaurant is. It's a 5-10 minute walk to the night market from there.

KrAyZiE TRD 05-20-2012 04:30 AM

I saw a stand that sells flower bouquets made with plush dolls instead...
Does anyone know if there's an actual store that sells them as well??
Preferably in van or burnaby?

JSilver 05-20-2012 08:32 AM

Food went downhill.

Durrann 05-20-2012 09:05 AM

Seriously there's a 1 dollar admission at river rock night market ??

Matlock 05-20-2012 09:23 AM

I went to River Rock Richmond Night Market on Friday and it was packed. Tons of stuff to see, but the $1 fee kind of sucks. Probably really easy to sneak through with a crowd if you're incredibly short. Parking is a bitch, we parked by some marina far away and had to walk through the dark to get back to the car. Should have probably bought a sword, you know for my own personal security. :D

Went to Chinatown night market last night. Not what it used to be. I really miss the good old days when it was the best night market, before all the other ones came around. Bought some fish balls, too salty.

Tonight I think we'll check out the Summer Night Market @ Richmond to see how that one changed after the River Rock one probably stole a lot of it's vendors.

GAGA 05-20-2012 09:29 AM

Is there a parking fee for the riverrock one? the bridgeport one is still at 5?

Fee only if you park RIGHT inside their own designated blue fence lot. Not worth it unless you want to deal with waiting forever to get in, paying, then waiting forever to get out. Park a whiles away and take a walk. Use your best judgement on where is a good place to park and where isn't. There are tow trucks roaming around, but there are also some good hidden spots which are fine to park in.

Also, you will save yourself a good deal of time if you avoid driving right by the night market on river road. Try to stay at least a couple blocks away to avoid half assed traffic guards and tons of cars.

Shorn 05-20-2012 12:26 PM

100 people at the potato twist line.

":denied::fuckthatshit: i'll come back later"

sold out. :okay:

Stealthy 05-20-2012 12:33 PM

I think we need a review of what really matters at the night market

how were the LGs

kristianhay 05-20-2012 01:05 PM

Went to the RR night market last night and it was pretty fun. The usual vendors, good food, a shit load of people. The $1 entry fee didn't bug me - it's a fucking dollar haha. Some cool purple lights.

Little tip: I parked at Costco and just walked over (probably a 5 minute walk?) and beat the nightmare that was trying to park in the designated areas. A couple other people seemed to be doing the same as well. ;)

i-VTEC 05-20-2012 01:57 PM

Will night market open tonight? raining kinda hard~

Anjew 05-20-2012 02:04 PM

i parked around Costco also and walked over. The walk is awesome because it builds up the appetite on the way and burns off the food after. =)

i used to think that going near closing is awesome because of the deals but the diffrence between a freshly cooked skewer (or anything else) more than makes up for the extra cost.

it was so busy but that is to be expected right? the only downside was mainland older couple that was talking so annoyingly loud behind us and kept pushing up against us.

Should have turned around and started pushing up against them.

That would've made them keep their distance.

...

Unless they reciprocate and push even more from the front.
