Went to Blarney Stone with some buddies last week.

Tried some Irish beers they had on tap.

- the Kilkenny cream ale tasted like watered down crap; no flavour after sippin' it
- second pitcher we got was much better, The Harp lager was quite good.

Finally got to try the Hikari Imperial Dry from Powell Street/Fuggles and Warlocks.

Nice tart flavor, not too sour, quite floral. One of the better Sourweisse beers I have had.

Anyone know which liquor stores carry trappist beers?

Most do, BCLS or otherwise. Chimay is one of the more common brands they have, and there a couple more that I can't remember.

*Bumping thread

Has anyone tried the new Strathcona Brewery on Hastings? Passed by the other day and saw that they're finally open

Lowered_Klass 07-29-2016 09:53 AM

Completely forgot about this thread lol

I'm curious if anyone has tried the Strathcona Brewery as well.

On a side note, while I was on the Island for holidays, I got to try a number of beers by Hoyne. They were awesome. Especially the Pilsner for those hot afternoon patio visits. Their Dark Matter was also very good as well. Now I have to see if I can find them around here in stores.

Been drinking Bridge's Side Cut a lot lately.

Best/must-visit breweries along the Oregon coast?

i was at the liquor store and picking out some tall cans to try and was pleasantly surprised by finding this guy here, might be my go to beer this summer:

Gucci Mane 08-02-2016 10:54 AM

ok, now you guys are just getting weird.

banana bread beer? da fuq? lolol

Liquid_o2 08-02-2016 10:59 AM

I've had the Banana Bread beer before. The flavour profile isn't as overwhelming as you would expect it to be. I wouldn't seek it out again, but not too bad at all.

6793026 08-02-2016 11:13 AM

^ yup, i had it just last week, it's starting to overboard but it's a once is enough type thing.

6o4__boi 08-02-2016 01:22 PM

i tried it a while back just straight out of curiosity.

you're right about the flavor profile not being overwhelming
i don't know if it was the batch i got or if its always tasted like that but it's barely even close to a banana bread flavor...i was kinda disappointed cus i like banana bread

Rickards shandy is shit compared to the German/Belgium/Austrian Radlers.

Stiegl makes as awesome Grapefruit rader. Its similar to what they serve at Oktoberfest in Germany. Lower alcohol level so you can drink it all day!

STIEGL - GRAPEFRUIT RADLER TALL CAN | BC Liquor Stores

Looking forward to drinking similar beers at Oktoberfest this fall :D

jumsoo 08-03-2016 02:26 PM
