Was surprised they played Galvanize when the Brits walked in. Haven't heard that song in a really long time. Still sounds as good as ever. Video clip for it is pretty cool too. |
the pre-lude (industrial revolution) part was so boring. The sets were cool though with the grassy hill too much poetry and shit and that dance sequence with the dead people was depressing James bond was cool, the british rapper was wtf?!? should have had more rock n roll, that first arctic monkey song was way too random and the song sucked JK rowlings kinda milfy...just saying, kids stories bit was charming cauldron was cool compared to Beijing I say Beijing was definitely better and organized and entertaining (awe factor) but still a GREAT job overall. Lots of pride into that production! |
why is CTV re-using the "i believe" song....? |

Wheres my imperialism :troll: |
80k + people singing Hey Jude did it for me. If you haven't sung that song in unison with thousands of people. You wouldnt know how awesome it can be. |

I was kind of hoping for some rediculous top gear appearance. |

So.... Now can we start posting this year's hottest female Olympians like last time? :) |

i really liked the casual party feel to it. not stuffy and uptight which is exactly what most opening ceremonies are, (as well as BRITISH people too!) i loved the forging of the ring (or rather casting) Grassy hill was cool. Bond with the queen was sweet. mr. bean did it for me though. so awesome! |
Finally got around to watching the whole thing. It's much better than I was expecting it to be. I didn't watch the Chinese opening, so I can't compare those two. However, compared to Vancouver... this one was just so much better. I loved the casualness of it, as if this was just one giant party. This was kinda the opposite of what most people think when the word British comes to mind, and I think that's exactly what they wanted to help dispel. Quote:
I wont lie; I was kinda hoping Clarkson or Top Gear would some how make an appearance... :lol |
How fucking awesome would it be if Top Gear presented the whole Olympics? Could you imagine Clarkson, Hammond and May calling the 4x100 like Star in a Reasonably Priced Car? |
i don't even remember the ceremony that happened here in vancouver. but i do remember the one in beijing made me want to gag. too much 'the children are the future' bullshit. i liked the casual feel of this one but i also was hoping for a top gear appearance. Mr bean ftw |

mr bean was great it was the only good thing imo but kind of ??? along with James Bond it would be like the chinese olympics having jackie chan come out and do a scene from one of his films the ring forging was kind of cool but the whole industrial revolution bit was out of place imo and having the childrens hospital and NHS put on a show was nice but also :fulloffuck: etc anyway did i miss it or did they keep those horrid london mascots out of the opening ceremony? i know they have statues set up throughout the city but it would seem that they've been thrown on the backburner |
