I'm still debating if franco is worth it or not. Stock kernel is serving me well so far.

For everyone who gets the phone. Be sure to download fauxclock and adjust the gamma settings. There are messed up on the phone and colors are extremely washed out

What are the correct settings within the app?

DC5-S 12-21-2012 09:55 AM

There is no correct setting. Every display is different. Read up the thread on XDA

Washed out colours was the first thing I noticed compared to my S3, though I know AMOLED is notorious for going overboard with colour saturation.

Good to know there's an app to fix that, because the n4 screen is a beaut.

CRS 12-21-2012 09:59 AM

I'm just going to leave this note here....

ANYONE TRYING TO SELL THE NEXUS 4 FOR PROFIT ON RS IS GOING TO GET BANNED.

I've already had the pleasure of banning 3 or 4 people already. If you're going to be an asshole and order so you can flip it, go fuck yourself. Do it on CL because RS isn't going to put up with your shit.

Expresso 12-21-2012 10:15 AM

Side question, could you load up a touchwiz rom on this phone to get motion gestures to work? Assuming there is one.

yameen 12-21-2012 10:50 AM

download speeds on wind with my nexus 4 is friggin fast. i average about 7mpbs on speedtest whereas my nexus s only reached 2mpbs in the same location.

I highly doubt it. First the hardware is pretty different to any Samsung phone out there. Second, if you were to somehow get it working, it'd be buggy like crazy.

Fuckin rights CRS.
Btw for those who do have it. I read all the reviews and whatnot. Looked at all the pics, but is it really the size of the S3?

Slightly smaller, thicker, but pretty close to the S3.

Just a quick question for those that have had an s3, what made you switch from the s3 to the nexus 4? Isn't the rooted s3 running cyanogenmod 10 better than the nexus 4?

I haven't made the switch, but to your last comment:

CM10 on the s3 is more buggy than AOSP on the n4. You get extra customizations with cm10, but it's not as clean-running as AOSP.

For me, I'd like to make the switch to the n4 because of:
  • IPS screen > AMOLED imo
  • the build quality on the n4 seems wayyyyyy better than the s3
  • updates straight from google
  • LTE aside, it's the fastest android device atm

Tim Budong 12-21-2012 03:39 PM

CM10.1
did 10 get an RC?
i dont ever recall it did
lol

Does the lte drain battery really bad on the n4?

Teh Doucher 12-21-2012 08:49 PM

No flash storage is the killer for me. And before anyone says cloud storage, no thanks.

On WiFi, the battery is excellent.
on data (HSPA or LTE), it sucks

LTE seemed about the same in terms of battery use (compared to HSPA)

yes, it has LTE...by accident
People really need to stop suggesting the phone has LTE like it was designed to. It only works on one band, and it has to be enabled by a tweak that doesn't stick unless you're rooted.
Also, don't be surprised if LTE functionality suddenly disappears because Google finds a way to stop it.

You dont have to be rooted.... And this is a Canadian website so its safe to say that 95% of people on here can get lte.. And yeah Google will probably disable it. But people could find a way to get it working again or just stick to 4.2.1
