going to try MinCo soon

I like how you can make the status and nav bar transparent and that they cherry picked from AOKP and CM. It's been pretty stable and no FC's so far. Why you sketching out haha just give it a try. Although I have no idea who the devs are either here's some info on them About | XYLON

I would like to see how the battery is with normal usage.

This phone hit a 32H on Google Nexus 4 goes through our battery test, see how it scored - GSMArena Blog

Which is decent but I doubt it would get through a full day if used normally.

Who are you to say what is normal usage and how it won't last a full day? You don't even have the phone. And everyone's normal usage is different. It clearly lasts at least one full day and even more for many people. If it didn't then there would be A LOT more bitching on every blog site and forum.

Wow, there have been tons of complaints and bad reviews of the poor battery life(android forums, engadget revuew, gsmarena review). Just google Nexus 4 battery and try using your phone when you aren't mainly depending on wifi.

rageguy 12-26-2012 11:16 PM

You could say that the battery is not great. I have both the iPhone 5 and Nexus 4. I do the same things on them: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp, SMS, email, web browsing, listening to music, etc. I usually put both on 50% brightness, not auto. I disable wifi and run on LTE permanently.

If I do the above, the iPhone 5 can last me for the entire day until bedtime. However the Nexus 4 will run out of juice by 5pm when I am off work.

But then again, what I'm doing is considered heavy use and bad on the battery. So if the Nexus 4 can at least last me until the end of work, it's not bad; it's satisfactory.

lol the GNex running stock JB is known to have lower than normal battery life as well (worse than N4). Iuno how I go through 24 hours+ with it, including lots of ig, emailing, twittering and streaming songza half the day. Must be magic. :failed:

Bingo, Vanilla JB on GNEX isn't the greatest. I do see a bit of wake/lock issues

regardless, Once i push through enough juice, I will stop using wifi and depend solely on cellular.

I can pump around 12-15 hours on it running custom kernel

I have not messed with voltages or clock speeds and I don't think deep idle or anything such have been created yet for the N4

Tim Budong 12-27-2012 09:34 AM

oh yea, i got a nillkin case
its awesome

My 16GB changes from Dec 3 to Dec 20, today it has changed to Dec 27. No shipping confirmation yet though. Does it mean I might be getting it soon?

Order Date: December 3, 2012 12:08:03 PM UTC-8

!MiKrofT 12-27-2012 09:57 AM

I've joined the Nexus 4 family :) Coworker ordered for me while I was on vacation. Charging it up now. I need to grab a microsim though.

Tim Budong 12-27-2012 10:47 AM

I can probably pump another 2-3 hours, but I gotta run hahah, so 30.5hrs on straight wifi with the shit I do

Which probably means 10-12hrs on ALL CELLULAR

No changes or any updates on my order at December 3, 2012 12:07:35 PM UTC-8.

On my first order, two days before it shipped, I got a notification saying "Dec 12
You successfully updated your payment for this order to VISA xxxx"

the "updated payment" notification is likely a precursor to shipment.

Been on Xylon Rom for the last 3 days.
So far so good. Love the customization.
New icons and trying out new clock widget.
Not sure why the picture isn't showing the transparency of the Navbar and top status bar.
Battery is fine with my usage. I get a day easily and I charge every night anyway.

have most of you guys rooted your phone? I'm happy with the stock android, but am wondering if I would be more happy with a rooted phone

been noticing slight lag with 720p movies on VLC player...can anyone run 1080p movies with no lag?

bobola 12-27-2012 05:15 PM

^^ rooted and running stock rom + franco kernel r20
battery life is significant improved..

adds 2~3 more mins per % during screen time

im still waiting on some rom to release *stable* version before flashing custom

!MiKrofT 12-27-2012 05:16 PM

Sweet. I've been looking for roms to flash and xylon looks good. Now the bigger question. Do I restore my apps with titanium backup or install from scratch? Lol

Not sure if this applies to the nexus 4, but I just updated my xylon rom on gnex and forgo titanium backup, and significantly less problems.
