Good thing about Franco's app is that you just need to be rooted. You can be on any ROM/kernel. The gamma setting on faux's app requires you to be on his kernel. Fauxclock also costs twice as much as Franco's app.

DC5-S 01-09-2013 01:39 AM

Wrong. The gamma control works on stock kernel & his.. And the $5 is very much worth it. That app also has a boatload of other features

I bought both fauxclock and franco kernel updater. Gotta support these awesome dev's

You're right. I wasn't updated with his news. It used to only work on faux kernel users.

Changed the settings right away with the app to 200 200 255. I just eyeballed this setting to make the whites really white. A popular setting I found on forums is 238 228 240 but I found that still too saturated.
The app does cost $2.60 but it works really well and you don't have to constantly go back and change the settings. Do it once and you can leave it.
Try it and if you don't find a setting you like you can refund it within 15 minutes.

your setting sucks haha
sorry
this is built into Franco Updater

Yeah I'm now currently using Xylon version 15 with Franco R28 and it's starting to get decent. Will see how it goes for the next few days.

These cases arrived today for me. The grey one looks really good with the 4.

How long does the nilkin case take to ship to Canada? I emailed the seller because it's been over 2 weeks and I'm told that it'll arrive end of janurary/early feburary.

Alatar 01-09-2013 06:44 PM

Minimum 3 weeks. Mine took around 4 to get here.

Call JP cellular repair. I heard they were getting them in a few weeks ago.

hongy 01-09-2013 10:59 PM

Just played with it before giving to wife, feels nice.

MASTER_J 01-09-2013 11:24 PM

when the phone is in sleep/stand-by mode (screen is off) is there any way to wake the phone/turn screen on, other then the power button on the side? Like using the home button or swiping the screen somehow? I've tried searching but haven't found anything... thx

Simplex123 01-09-2013 11:40 PM

^have you been spoiled by the PlayBook?
Haven't heard of anything of that sort but when you install custom ROMs there is an option to wake the screen with the volume keys

Derek128 01-10-2013 12:37 AM

just got mine today :)

You'll need either a custom rom or a custom kernel. Roms usually allow power or volume to wake. Kernels like faux allow swipe2wake where you simply swipe the screen to turn it on. Mind you this will take up some battery.

Generally, I'd say read up as much as you can on androids..
This is the SAFEST WAY you can root your phone

xda-developers - View Single Post - [Guide] Ultimate Nexus 4 Root Guide

now outside of this, you are on your own...I encourage reading up on android and all the how to's because essentially you will learn just how much of a beast these phones are

look under the original dev section on the N4 via XDA. Franco, Faux and all the roms have their own thread

MASTER_J 01-10-2013 01:49 PM

Awesome, thanks fo much for the link!

Just use the latest Nexus Root Toolkit, can't get any simpler than that.

WugFresh

Follow this youtube video, dead easy.

I would go the adb route, its simpler, and have a bit more control over the device
just my 2c

I've used ADB to unlock/root a few devices in the past so I'm familiar with the steps. There's no comparison when using the root kit, everything is pretty much automated and you just press buttons, no prompts to deal with. To each his own.

_TiDy_ 01-10-2013 07:31 PM

I can vouch for the tool kit. Easiest thing to use. There is even a YouTube video on how to use it
