I had this burger from Yagger's on 433 west Pender | Vancouver, BC

burger was pretty good

sorry for the shitty picture. Took it from a potato

organic housemade cowburger 12.95
organic beef & pork patty, peppercorn mayo, topped with
aged white cheddar & double smoked bacon served
on a yukon potato scallion focaccia bun

Had me at organic and house made. Romaine lettuce, juicy tomatoes and red onions. Looks like a winning combination even without the cheese and bacon!

By the way, are those fries hand cut?

kkthind 01-12-2014 05:01 PM

Lol classic hipster, Yea I believe they are hand cut

Tried Texx Big Burger recently. Liked it, would definitely go again. Knowing my co-workers, it'll probably be some time this week LOL.

The criteria in which I judge a burger.
  • Beef patty is the star.
Everything else should compliment the patty.
If anything distracts from the patty, they done goofed.
  • Patty must have a crust.
Drag a butter knife or fork against the crust should sound similar to concrete.
  • Meat must be cooked to a medium-well (at most).
If it's not pink, your burger stinks.
  • Bun must be soft and not dry.
It must be easier to tear with your teeth than beef patty.
    See #1.
  • Stuffed burger = gimmick.
  • Balance is key
    • Sweet
    • Savory
    • Bite/Spicy
    • Acid
    • Sweetness.
  • Served with fries.
White Spot is the epitome of bad fries.
    • Crisp
    • Not-dry.

I think these burgers are only OK, not good.
I have yet to have a truly "good" burger.

I don't think you will find a burger like that here in Vancouver, but definitely in the US.

Anyone tried that burger stand in dt. Saw it on van city buzz. 2.85$ for it. Prolly nothing massive but I'm sure not bad :o apparently on Granville and pender.

Just read about it today, gonna try it out this weekend! At that price I'm sure I won't have any complaints.

westopher 02-12-2014 03:10 PM

Not in Vancouver but I gotta say, the chipotle bbq bacon cheeseburger up at the roundhouse on blackcomb is amazing as far as ski hill food goes.

This Sunday evening our beloved Oakwood burger will be peacefully laid to rest. Due to the powers above, we are unable to serve the beef cooked to our guests’ desired temperature.

wtf?
What's going on about our food laws?

willystyle 02-23-2014 01:10 PM

So it's perfectly fine to serve sashimi and beef tartare but it's illegal to serve a medium-well burger?

Teriyaki 02-23-2014 01:28 PM

Been that way for many years afaik in Canada.
