If we got some prospects from Pittsburgh, we're gonna have guys bitching like RRxtar.

Moved one of the leagues superstars and fan favorites for another bottom 6 guy, and an unproven, and potentially over rated potential goalie.

Everyone here wanted Markstrom and Matthias. It was time for Luongo to move on.

m3thods 03-05-2014 11:11 AM

Eliot's pretty dialed in. I doubt anything with Kesler is done now.

On a brighter note: 29 other teams are still in the playoffs before the summer draft. The Canucks did the right thing setting a high price when desperation is at it's highest. More buyers in the summer can drive up the price.

411ken 03-05-2014 11:13 AM

Canucks officially done.. Kesler stays

Grandmaster TSE 03-05-2014 11:13 AM

confirmed, Kesler did not get traded

Vanek and Moulson has though

Gh0stRider 03-05-2014 11:14 AM

tsn confirms canucks are done for today.

@SNHockeyCentral: Trade: Legwand to Detroit, per @JSportsnet

Looks like....Gillis is going to be fired.

Reports say Aqualinis axed the trade for kesler to pengs.

m3thods 03-05-2014 11:16 AM

Team1040 reporting that higher-ups vetoed a trade to send Kesler to Pitts. If true, MG is probably donezo in the near future.

Edit: dang ninja'd

XplicitLuder 03-05-2014 11:18 AM

@m3thoids : you'd think teams being desperate now would want to pay the most instead of in the summer..

Yeah you're right, but more teams can drive up the market value. It's pretty much guaranteed that 30 teams want Kesler. At the deadline you're basically chopping the potential suitors in half. And the extra time may change the minds of teams like Detroit and Philly who opted out of the deadline sweepstakes.

But as you're possibly alluding to, it can be Luongo 2.0 all over again at this year's draft.

OGCStrike 03-05-2014 11:23 AM

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun 32s
Vanek to Montreal in exchange for a 2nd round pick and a prospect :accepted:
wonder whose the prospect..

AzNightmare 03-05-2014 11:23 AM

Well teams that trade for Kesler now means they get to use him for the 2014 Playoffs. So I would think Kesler has more value now.

RS boycott of Canucks tickets! He's not making any money off of us.
Aquaman is a joke! He runs the team like one of his blueberry farms.

RS group buy of the Canucks. Get some owners that are passionate for building a Cup
contender.

Yes you're right. But only to those 2-3 teams that wanted him now. As you can see, the price that the Canucks were asking was still too high for said teams that really wanted him.

I expect the price will end up being lowered in the Summer. But with more potential suitors, there's a higher possibility that a GM may be dumb enough to bite on the original price.

Edit: Also, more teams might be in play for Kesler to choose from since he wants to win a Cup, and more teams are "in it" in the Summer.

Mike Oxbig 03-05-2014 11:26 AM

What was the package offered to the Canucks for Kesler?
Sutter, Pouliot, 1st? <---- we getting more return than J.staal to (CAR)

:ohgodwhy:

Yeah, they interviewed Jim Mora after our last game.

Ch28 03-05-2014 11:27 AM

I'm hoping ALL of you boycott the Canucks now. The owner is nothing but a greedy son of a bitch

No Pouliot. It was one of their 2 other D prospects.
