Lets hope so..

If thats how it's gonna be...The Canucks and Rollie becomes a Goalie Factory that keeps on giving

I can't wait for the goalie controversy in 2 years.

Probably because I'm a lot older to really understand whats going on.

I am also old enough to remember the '94 Stanley Cup run and the dark days under Keenan.
Brighter days are ahead for this franchise.

It's just not now.

Go Canucks go!!!

I stopped watching hockey altogether during the Keenan years. So depressing :(

Let's hope so, it sucks to come sooo close in 94, but I was young. 2011... The dream of partying it like a mad man in my mid twenties to celebrate a championship would have capped off a shitty ass year

I mean...all hope isn't lost with the up and coming kids.
There's a good mix of vets and kids and as long as the locker room has a winning mentality, im ok with it.

Sadly, Management hurts. ie. EDMONTON

Nobody is wants to play here. MG can't attract players to sign a contract unless their from BC.

I understand the NHL is a business, but you can't treat people lower than dirt and except free agents to want to sign here.

I thought the media was the worst thing about Vancouver but its not. It's the management and owners.

rsx 03-04-2014 09:42 PM

Was Richardson injured in the game? Or is he getting shipped?

Injured

I have a family friend who's family has business dealings with the Aquilini's dating back to the 90's and he would always tell me that Lou wasn't getting traded because the dad, who basically signs the cheques, wanted him to stay in Vancouver because he was Italian. He also told me that the dad wasn't happy with AV's firing and ripped his son a new hole when he found out. Who knows if this BS or not but at the end of the day we really have no clue who's to blame for not trading Lou earlier and other questionable trades and signings. It could be MG or the owners or both.

And i I'm the owner I would be worried. Sports is a entertainment based business, if the entertainment factor disappears, fans stop showing up which is bad for your bottom line. Doesn't matter if you have all your tickets sold for, tickets are one aspect of the business, the other aspect and the biggest cash grab is the food and merchandise you sell during the games. No fans in the seats, no money. And it doesn't matter if you're the Canucks or Bluejackets, if your team sucks with no real star you're not going to fill the seats and if this team goes into a Flames/Oilers rebuild phase well than good luck having any buzz for the Canucks in Vancouver for the next few seasons.

I wouldn't have touched Ehrhoff either for 5-5.5M... He got paid 40M with a 10 year contract...'nuff said. Good riddance

If the organization has been given the rap of treating Lu like crap already, just think what running him through waivers and burying him in the minors would have done... And he wouldn't have even had the chance to warm the bench for Price during the Olympics enroute to another gold medal. The Canucks now save both Schneider and Lu's cap hits, about 8.5M/year after the 15% retainer, and have Lack/Markstrom who make about 3M(?)/year combined. That's a 2nd line scorer's salary saved right there. One could argue that Schneider's talents would have been wasted during a rebuild that we will be going through, and what could he demand salary wise after his current deal expires after next season?

The top ticket free agent signings are more often than not over rated, teams get into bidding wars to attract UFA's. MONEY attracts free agents to sign with teams, even in Edmonton. I don't want those free agents to sign here anyways.

It was great hearing MG today not in denial about the state of the team, its lack of depth, the need for a rebuild vs. retool, and making the right moves for their players. So the question that has not been asked: Did MG ask Lu to waive his no-trade like he said he would never do?

Tim Budong 03-04-2014 10:35 PM

he would have had to ask Louie to waive the NTC
but of course, this was the trade Luongo wanted. There was never a problem of him waiving the NTC to go to FLA.

Harvey Specter 03-04-2014 10:40 PM

Foooook, Jovanovski is still playing and making decent coin. Thought he retired last season.

Luongo was my fav player and goalie, inspired me to play hockey in the first place.

Used to watch highlights, watching his positioning, slowly practiced myself as a goalie then eventually went 6-0-1 with my team in various high school ball hockey leagues. Got top goalie award and everything.

Absolutely devastated that hes gone.

Where did I say anything about the minors? You can place players on waivers without sending them to the minors, first of all. Secondly, he would've been claimed.

And why would that affect his Olympic status?

If we're truly rebuilding, we won't be a cap team, anyways. Plus $5.5M is first line money.

If this was depressing, think of how Eddie Lack feels
new guy, and Luongo takes this kid under his wing. Its too early to tell, but he's set Eddie with the right attitude on how to be a good teammate, and a better friend with the guys

And then you read this... the opening bit with Juice

“I sat with him on the plane for every flight for six, seven years. I won a lot of money off of him in cards.
