Chris Tanev is still unsigned, and that's okay | CanucksArmy

Long but good read. Recommend it srs

"Canucks have 49 signed players out of 50 contracts max

With the signings of Horvat, Shinkaruk, and Archibald the Canucks have 49 signed players. A team cannot have more than 50. Assuming Tanev's contract will fill the 50th, this will end speculation on any additional signings by Vancouver. "

I thought that players that are playing in the junior leagues have their contracts slide, and not count against the contract limit. I could be wrong though.

dbaz 08-06-2013 04:32 PM

Horvat, Shinkaruk, McEneny and Guance contracts all slide as more than likely 3 if not 4 will be in juniors. that takes the team down to 46 after tanev signed. sounds like tanev agent is using roman josi as a comparative in contract talks. hes played 10more games and has gotten 11more points... 27mil/ 7years..

Actually, Josi has 24 more points than Tanev.

Tanev is delusional if he thinks he deserves Josi type money.

That's correct, at least under the old CBA. I haven't read through the new one.

That said, their contracts still count towards the limit until they're sent back to juniors. Basically, those junior players would go to camp and, if we send them home, we'll be able to sign other guys during/after pre-season to fill their spots.

tonyzoomzoom 08-06-2013 09:02 PM

Could be that it's Tanev's agent who is dillusional

winson604 08-07-2013 01:57 PM

Doesn't really mean anything but always exciting to see Canucks Prospects chipping in.

Canada beat Finland today 5-3

Gaunce and Hunter both had 1G and 1A each.

TSN and Sportsnet have posted articles and video about "the Trade", the Gretzky trade on August 9th, 1988.

If you existed when the trade happened, do you remember what you were doing on that day?

I was relaxing in a pool in sunny Tucson, Arizona, as a young boy, while checking out babes in bikinis that day. :)

TSN has been running shit on the trade for over a week now.

Slow summer hockey news is slow.
