The Producer 05-08-2025 03:16 PM

seller is working hard to not disclose the car's mileage - which should be the most basic thing to say

Work and receipts from Turn3 helps the sale IMO. Well respected local shop.

I'd certainly go look at it if i was in the market.

Spoiler!

dark0821 05-08-2025 04:07 PM

lol well compared to S2k/E46 market, I will say its a good deal~

Will try to find out milage

noclue 05-08-2025 04:46 PM

The gauges look like canadian cayman S but current odometer and when the engine was rebuilt is probably the key point.

JDMDreams 05-08-2025 04:57 PM

Does the engine rebuilt mean anything? Or will it bore score again in another 100 kms

westopher 05-08-2025 06:53 PM

Depends how it was done, and then also depends on how you drive it. Like the IMS shit cars that do short jaunts are far more susceptible to it. Lots of starts and oil not flowing enough.

Jgresch 05-08-2025 08:01 PM

This may not be the same car and I'd hate to taint any prospective buyers, but there was a very similar sounding/looking Cayman listed last year for $35-40k IIRC. It mentioned the Turn3 rebuild, but after a week or two of being listed it changed to OBO because bore scoring was found during PPI.

Good deal though if everything checks out.

Thoughts on this 2011 LS? Came across this one...

https://www.vib-motors.com/cars/used...s-ls460-257212

It looks clean and fairly priced, but haven’t owned an LS before (coming from F10 535i) and wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with this generation. Anything in particular I should look out for?

Appreciate any feedback.

Brake actuator, valley coolant leak, air suspension, mark levinson amp. Aside from that great cars, peak lexus IMO.

Badhobz 05-09-2025 04:52 AM

Valley coolant leak is a possibility on any Toyota v8. Impacts a small number of engines so I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

Other stuff is all easy peasy and easy to replace with none oem parts. Get it! You’ll love it.

Re: Cayman - Any Porsche of that era will suffer from a level of bore scoring and it truly depends on how bad it is. westopher mentioned that if the car is being taken for short trips and the oil isn't even warmed up, that will just kill it. There are some cars that exist out there with bore scoring with 150,000KM+ but the scoring is minimal, so you have to juggle out your risk tolerance.

If anyone is truly interested in that Cayman, get the VIN and ask Turn3 directly what's up with it. I did that once and they saved me from a $40K paper weight. They were able to tell me what they did to the car and what condition it was in and when they last saw the car. Beyond that, it's up to you to do your own diligence and make your own decision.

If the words bore scoring scare you, look at an econobox Japanese car. Badhobz is your best friend, I mean, encyclopedia.

Turn3 reviews online (incl on here) skew heavily positive but in semi-closed circles they don't seem as universally loved. Seems like the CG of the Porsche world, lol.

Badhobz 05-09-2025 05:57 AM

yeah those circle jerking bastards cant see beyond their danger to manifold

bcrdukes 05-09-2025 06:38 AM

The Porsche circle is generally small and with that come with all kinds of people from all walks of life especially when it comes to older cars. Turn 3 has their target audience, similar to Weissach and Scan Automotive in North Van.

I've never personally done business with Turn 3, but they did provide me product support, and pre-PPI inquiries. Lots of people like Scan Automotive and Weissach, but I would never do business with them for my own reasons. Like any shop or business, you can't please everyone, and that's just the nature of business.

i think its time to bring in some professional help.
after seeing 2 RS members (matsuda and loong) recently picked up 2 quality rides from Dealershift, maybe they can help find me a mini.
Is Roach the owner? where do they get their cars from other than trade-ins? do they search for cars for customers?

alot of fake ads on FBM and no replies... and sketchy dealers

trollface 05-09-2025 07:24 AM

So is it available?

The only knowledge of turn 3 I have is producers experience there and having driven his car after the work they did, and his experience with them, they seem exceptional. My experience with scan was quite bad from a work done perspective, but the way they handled it was quite good. Someone fucked up somewhere and they owned it and fixed it. The mistakes were pretty egregious though. Maybe someone didn't care to work on the 15k BMW instead of the 250k 911, but at least I didn't get that from the customer interaction part.

bcrdukes 05-09-2025 08:12 AM

Egregious mistakes - sounds about right for Scan. :lol

dark0821 05-09-2025 08:29 AM

Well, I was gonna get PPI at Richmond Porsche anyways... but the seller is unresponsive..

I messaged him using my account and my wife's account, no response...

Just asked for Turn 3 paperwork and explanation of work that was done + the current mileage...

trollface 05-09-2025 09:08 AM

What's to say they weren't doing the same thing to that guy the one shop tried to do to you?
