I find under heavy braking, difference of RPM while I'm downshifting isn't huge and it's very easy to overshoot the match. Heel toe on the street is very different from heel toe on the track. |

My weakest part of track driving is braking. Every single car I've had for a long time all have ABS. I have almost zero threshold braking experience and the M3 really isn't conducive to learning that. I was at a bit of a loss of what to do this year at Mission, when on the first session my car kept locking up. Turns out my tire pressures were way wrong, but still I am very weak at braking. I'm not afraid of braking hard, but judging distances is when I need to start braking is definitely not where I excel at. |

Final DE weekend for the year and for PCA UCR. Great weather throughout the season and amazing instructors. I've picked up speed into corners that used to give me the shakes but I've overcome that. And last but not least, I learned how to properly heel toe. :D I'm likely going to increase my track time in 2025 by running with the local BMW CCA Trillium club in addition to PCA. Looking forward to another season in 2025. https://i.imgur.com/uHYI3Tb.jpeg |
If anyone is still interested in a late season track day with lots of track time, I have just learned through the grapevine that Speed Fanatics is hosting one this Friday at Mission, and for the time being, they are not expecting a lot of cars. By the sound of it, it seems like there is going to be gobs and gobs of track time available due to the low number of participants at the moment. The weather is forecasted to be a dry and cloudy day on Friday, although that is obviously still subject to change. But since registration only ends on Thursday at 5pm, I think it is entirely viable to hold off on registration until Thursday, and only commit to going by Thursday afternoon if the weather holds out LOL~ https://speedfanatics.trackrabbit.co...024-2024-10-25 Gonna see if I can bring the shxtbox out to wrap up the season LOL~! |
It says rental cars available. Now I'm curious what is a rental car. |

Wow, Mission allows Tesla on track? |

AFAIK, Mission allows EVs to run on both the road course, as well as on the drag strip. I believe there are at least 2 EVs doing sprint races with SCCBC. And some number of years ago (before the pandemic), I remember the Vancouver Auto Show having a local motorsports section where there was a custom built drag racing car that was utilizing a Model S drivetrain. |
Interesting. EVs are not allowed at Mosport/CTMP as they don't have the ability to put out the fires from EVs. I think it's the same for Le Circuit Mont Tremblant. Ironically, these would be the perfect cars there because they will never hit the sound limit laws. :p |
So The Ridge. Is it better to bum down early in the morning or stay a night? I'm leaning towards bumming down at 4:30am |
Arriving the night before, and just waking up early the next day is definitely the way to go. Yes, it costs more, but if you share a room with a buddy, the additional cost is really a non-issue. And then you'd actually be reasonably well-rested, instead of being already a little zoned out from the 3 - 4 hrs of driving from Vancouver to Shelton. Having said that, I got up at 3:30am back in September (last year) to attend an autox in Merrit. The drive probably took about the same time as it would take us to drive down to the Ridge, and the whole day went surprisingly smoothly. I was pretty tired at the end of the day, and I didn't get home until it was really late -- probably after 11pm. But it was far more do-able than I was expecting. |

^ That's the day I'm thinking about. The kids are old enough that I might be able to leave the night before and come home late on the day of. |
I usually left after work on Sat, sleep in Shelton. Track. Dinner. Home around midnight. |

Oh different group then. I'm looking at SpeedyGoat for Jun 9(?) on a Monday. |

I used to stay 2 nights but after a couple of years, I realized that I don't really do anything on the day after track day other than drive home which was a waste of a vacation day and hotel stay. Quote:

I used to prefer going to trackdays on the weekends cause why would I want to take a vacation day. After having kids the Mondays work a lot better for me. |

My preferences for attending track days / motorsports events has really shifted since I became a dad. Back in the singles day, weekends are always preferred since that's what weekends are for -- to go out and have fun! But now, Saturdays are more of an extracurricular activities day for the little person, as well as being the primary grocery shopping day. That leaves Sunday as the family day. And if I were to go away and play on Sunday as well, then I won't be able to spend time with my kid until next week. With week day track days, all it takes is a little arrangement ahead of time with le wifey to make sure the kiddo gets dropped off and picked up at school, and I just take a day off from work. |
I haven't seen anything from Kalson yet this year. Is he still doing things? |
Yep, shoot him a message for the events. I think some events aren't on MSR, best is to join the WhatsApp Group. https://chat.whatsapp.com/GWh9kURkbgHCfWSSNAJLCB Sent from my SM-G781W using Tapatalk |
