They actually even halted production to fix this issue.

Hyundai is starting to clear out 2024 Ioniq 5 (excluding the 5N of course), but regular Ioniq 5 can now be financed

2 to 4 years @ 1.49%
5 years @1.99%
6 years @ 2.49%
7 years @ 2.99%
8 years @ 3.99%

We were still close to 6% last month... that actually changes the payment quite a bit....

I would get carsick every time we rode in that car more than 30 mins.

this really cracked me up and reminded me of friend's dad who seemed to drive similarly to this haha

My dad drives very smoothly (i hope i picked up on his talent), but one of my friends back in high school, his dad seemed to treat the accelerator and brake as on/off on his Camry. EVERY time he let off the brake, stepped on the gas the rear would squat. And every time coming to a stop, the front would dip hard. Like he doesn't release the pressure of the brake pedal right when you're about to stop

Have the front seats been changed in the refresh at all? Wife and I liked everything about the Ioniq 5 except for the front seats - they were the most uncomfortable seats we've sat in in a car. Couldn't sit in them for longer than 90 mins at a time.

RabidRat 10-02-2024 06:24 PM

Are you able to articulate what it was about the seats that made you uncomfortable over long periods?

We're seriously looking at the Kia EV9 and I'm going to guess the seats will be similarly designed.

Both wife and I found that the top part of the seatback pushed our shoulders inwards slightly so that we couldn't sit straight up - we were sitting ever so slightly hunched/curled. We could never find a comfortable seating position. I like to sit fairly straight up (and close to the wheel) so reclining it back a bit wasn't an option for me.

My particular seating position also caused the top third of the dash to be cut off - there wasn't enough adjustment with the wheel upwards to work for me so I couldn't see the speedometer (if I recall correctly). Not the end of the world as I also find that in a lot of cars that the wheel cuts off a bit of the dash for me.

RabidRat 10-02-2024 10:34 PM

Ohh that's good insight. We'll look for the shoulder hunching.

I checked out the MDX and RDX the other day and holy shit the seats are comfortable.

Wish they made a PHEV, or even at least a hybrid for fks sake. What is Acura doing...

dark0821 10-03-2024 08:05 AM

Acura and Honda are giving small players like Hyundai a chance to suceed LOL

Currently for Tucson, we only need to worry about
- Honda being latest to the game but doesnt move the Hybrid game fwd (and Honda failed at advertising, you will be suprised how many client wrote off Honda before even stepping in, they think CR-V doesnt do hybrid)
- Toyota which doesnt seem to want customers
- Mazda with no hybrid but good interior that is smaller CX-50, or CX-5 but trying to go to pricing wars with Rogue
- Nissan with no hybrid but crazy deals, I was shown some quotes and I am like... how... the eff?
- Mitubishi with the only readily avail PHEV but somehow still not selling
- VW with no hybrid but some how 0.99% rate
- Kia with (thank god they are not in the AutoMall)

I am talking about compact SUV only for the RAV4, CRV, Rogue, Tiguan etc etc only lololol

EvoFire 10-03-2024 08:31 AM

The shoulder hunching is very common on sporty seats, the seats are for some reason designed in a C shape where the whole thing just curves inward.

Honda didn't advertise the CRV Hybrid because they can't keep up with demand. With no advertising it's a 6 month wait.

Toyota also can't keep up with demand, all the popular hybrid models are 6 month wait if you walk in today, unless you let them eat you alive on a trade. Toyota dealers also take the crown of some of the sleaziest dealers in town right now. You can walk out today with a gas only model though.

Mazda has a CX50 Hybrid coming for 25, but otherwise they don't have a choice as they have hundreds of CX50 just sitting and needs to be moved.

Nissan.... Who wants to drive a Nissan? Though the new Rogue seems to be decent

Mitsubishi... No one wants a Mitsubishi, plus they are so ugly.

VW is 0.99% because of the reason you said, no hybrid.

Every normal/average person I've talked to who wanted a new car, all want hybrid minimum now. Vancouver is particularly ripe for that change because we have the highest gas prices in NA.

AstulzerRZD 10-03-2024 09:03 AM

The Mitsubishi is finally a Prime competitor - 300HP, 80km range
Resale value is probably ass tho

Welcome to Japanese supplier politics
+ they're poor compared to the Korean conglomerates

Yeah, the current Acura front seats are very comfy with a nice bucket shape to them - just enough side bolsters for that class of car. Easy to find a good fit with the 16 way controls. Not Volvo level but definitely the most luxurious part of an Acura. I'm short (5'6") so ideally I'd like it about 5% smaller but it's fine.

.

I don't know that this part is true anymore... my buddy just got a new CR-V Hybrid about 3-4 months ago... walked into the Honda dealership and bought one sitting on the lot. I know he didn't order it because he was complaining that he didn't get to pick a colour but that he was "okay" with the dark grey...

AstulzerRZD 10-03-2024 10:52 AM

CRV is...

1) underadvertised (Honda Build & Price page doesn't even call out that CRV has available hybrid)

2) 8k higher base price (2k higher when RAV is comparably equipped)

3) poor real world fuel economy, I got 8L/100km or ~30mpg. It's rated for mid 5s or 40mpg.

68style 10-03-2024 10:59 AM

Yah he’s a diehard Honda guy, had a 2003 civic he drove for 21 years and an Integra before that… wouldn’t even look at anything else lol

AstulzerRZD 10-03-2024 11:00 AM

I think it's a fine product if you haven't driven anything in the luxury class in the last 5

Badhobz 10-03-2024 11:44 AM

everything sucks nowadays. toyota sucks, honda sucks (exception of the CTR, but even then that turbo Moooootterrr is lacking compared to its old high reving VTEC ones) VW sucks, and even Ferrari and Maserati have all gone completely batshit insane. Their new products are boring/garbage.

i hate to say it, but Cammisa is right, there is no innovation left in traditional automakers. they are completely at the mercy of their suppliers and their supply chain. The only ones that are remotely innovative are EV's the likes of Telsa/Lucid/Rivian

Rest are boring as shit and getting worse and worse every year.

AstulzerRZD 10-03-2024 11:51 AM

My list of shit that wasn't cost cut to hell

1) Toyota 86 / GR Corolla / Miata
2) G20 M340i/M3 or X3M
3) Cadillac CT5V Blackwing (save the manuals!) and C8
4) RAM 1500 - interior beats everything short of a designo S Class / Bentley, crazy ride quality
5) S650 Mustang - despite being warmed over it drives crazy better
5B) F150 5.0, both are a 10k fully warrantied supercharger away from 750HP
6) Genesis G/GV80, low key the 70 series kinda suck

Other stuff:
1) EQS / EQG wagon
2) Prius / Lucid / Rivian / GM EV Trucks / Ioniq 5N

IMO overhyped by press:
1) Anything Mazda makes - wtf is that ride quality and knob
2) Genesis G70/GV70 series
3) CTR (what is that shifter?)
4) Bronco

EvoFire 10-03-2024 03:12 PM

Disagree with the G20 M340/F97 X3M.
BMW put their money in the G01 and compared to the G20, the G01 is the much better car so in that class I'd pick the X3 M40i unless you REALLY want a sedan.
It gets flipped when it comes to the M cars. G80 M3 gets a bespoke body, F97 uses the same body in white as the G01. It doesn't deserve the same price tag as the G8x M cars.

Mazda call out is deserved. They are trying hard to be luxury, but there are certain things that just isn't there. The action of the glove box or any interior panels and the infotainment are really weak and falls into the economy side of things.

LOL you must really dislike the CTR. I'll always be the first to point out its short-comings (fucking wind noise jfc), but the shifter isn't on the list. Your perspective is from a S2000, which is most definitely better than the CTR. However, the CTR's shifter is miles better than other comparable products - VW Golf R, F30 340i, GRC/Corolla, any old BMW or old Honda that you have driven. I'll even go as far to say that the shifter is better than a GT3. Well.. 996 GT3 Clubsport.

Shifter and long distance driving aside, the car is a remarkable car for a sub 50K out of the box track car. You really only need fluids. Yes, the OEM Brembo pads (rebranded DS2500s) hold up to even the abuse of Mission. To this same degree, the owner of the 996 GT3 Clubsport has even said that it's evident that technology has come a long way since the FK8 CTR is pretty close to the experience of a 996 GT3 Clubsport. Relatively speaking of course, as it's a 50K car vs 150K car.

Let me know the next time you're in town (IN THE SUMMER) and you can take my car to whatever backroad you want to really test out the shifter. 2 blocks from Robson Square to Yaletown wasn't really a fair assessment.

JDMDreams 10-03-2024 04:48 PM

You mean the everyone fell off the big manufacturer high horse? I really want to see how the China cars are. As the internal competition is fierce and they really seems to be the ones innovating.

I really got to try one out as my brain cannot comprehend a 6000lb American truck being a legit luxury car. I also want to try out that turbo inline 6 that seems to make mad power.

It kinda boggles the mind that Stellantis can crank out a luxury, best in class truck like the RAM but then cranks out turd after turd for everything else.

Every American manufacturer gave their pickup truck division their A-team.
They sell so much volume that they can spend a ton of money on making them better.

With the coil springs and 4 feet of legroom on the back, rides/steers/drives very well (except for braking lmao that's fucked).

The G01 has a lot more cool shit but I'd argue the G01 is incredibly well packaged and large for its class, has a great straight six, and carlike driving manner.

Low key the Mazda stuff is good only because the GLA/GLB/Q3 are so bad.
The knob still sucks, the cameras are bad, the engines are thirsty, they're loud, the infotainment has awful resolution, etc compared to a 3 series/X3 type car
